Yorwaste Limited provides waste management and recycling solutions for a range of customers, including businesses, local authorities and the general public. We operates sites across Yorkshire, including resource recover centres, waste transfer stations, materials recycling facilities, composting facilities, liquid waste treatment plant and household waste recycling centres. Yorwaste is owned by No

rth Yorkshire County Council and City of York Council but run wholly independently by a Board of Directors. We also have an environmental arm, Yorventure,which provides funding – generated through Landfill Tax Credits, for local community projects close to our landfill sites. As well as being a fabulous bunch of people to work with, they're also a brilliant representative of our amazing HWRC colleagues across the county.

From helping lovely customers to enjoying each other's company - all while getting to be outside in the open air - working on our sites is definitely kinda chic!

Emma Bell, one of Yorwaste’s many doting dog mums found this perfect backdrop to take a picture of her dog Margo! Seems like she made it just in time for National Dog Day today. 🐶

People passing were asking why she would take photos of her dog with bins. I don’t know… We think the bins look great, why wouldn’t anyone want a photo with them?

Here at Yorwaste, we're always proud of our hard-working, dedicated and caring colleagues 🤗

The team at our Catterick Bridge HWRC are no exception. Here's what one customer had to say after visiting the site:

"I have a spinal problem [and] a great difficulty in carrying awkward or heavy loads. Twice now I've had a trailer load [and] my wife and I were approached by a young man, who, seeing our difficulty, offered help and wouldn't take no for an answer (I'm glad he didn't).

"He was hard-working, intelligent, polite [and] friendly (without being familiar). Having used this facility for more years than I care to remember, I cannot, in fact, remember any time when I've had any negative type of reception at the Catterick Bridge site.

"This has happened twice now with this lad, and I think [he] deserves a real good shout of commendation! Thank you."

On 18 July an amazing gala night was held by the York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity. The event was to support the departments that provide breast cancer treatments to patients in the area. The funds raised were donated to the Chemotherapy Unit, Cancer Services and Breast Care team.

Beth Hunter, one of our operatives at Seamer Carr Household Waste Recycling Centre, is great friends with one of the organisers, and attended the night - equipped with Yorwaste goodie bags for everyone! We know this event meant a lot to Beth, and we were very proud to support it.

Congratulations to all the finalist schools and the Champion in the School Vegetable Box Competition 2026 - Chapel Haddlesey Primary School!

The judges (and us!) were impressed by the gardening work that the children have done, especially the Recycling Song that our champion school had performed at the award presentation.

What an amazing week at the Great Yorkshire Show! The Veg Box Competition has gathered schools around Yorkshire showcasing children's gardening work. And we're proud to be presenting in the Best Decorated Veg Box category! Well done to all the finalists there🎉

Yorwaste has been presented the RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) Gold Medal Award once again!

This year’s achievement is significant: 2026 is the 70th anniversary of RoSPA Health and Safety Awards, and also marks Yorwaste’s seventh consecutive year to win the RoSPA Gold Award.

The RoSPA Awards started as a small event to appreciate companies that prioritise the safety of their workers in the UK. Now, it's grown into the biggest and most prestigious health and safety awards programme in the world.
