Garth Cottage Herbs Producers of culinary herbs, rhubarbs, chillies and garlics. Producers of a wide range of infused oils, vinegars ,salad dressings, olives and balsamic vinegars.

We are not open to the public but sell at farmers markets, plant fairs and food festivals.

We received 5 rosettes for our display at RHS Wisley’s Plant Event this week and runner up to Best in Show.

Garth Cottage’s garlic season, as usual, starts on the first of September. This year we are attending the Garden Event at RHS Wisley. This runs from Tuesday 1st of September to Sunday 6th of September. We are also attending RHS Harlow Carr at their 2 day event on the 5th and 6th of the same week. Mail order will start some time during the week of the 7th of September. Details will be posted on facebook that week. As usual later in the month we will be at Harrogate Autumn Flower Show and Malvern Autumn Flower Show as well as some other plant shows. Details to follow.

Today we are at Mount St John, Felixkirk with a really good selection of summer herbs including over 25 varieties of mint, thyme, lemon thymes, winter savory, oreganos, sages, lovage, French tarragon, rosemarys (about 10 varieties), lemon verbena, lemon grass, bay, chives, basils ( featuring Thai basil particularly), southernwood etc. Some of these are in large specimen sizes.

Last week we were at RHSSandringham but this week we are much more local at Mount St John, Felixkirk, Thirsk. This is a 2 day event in the private gardens by kind permission of Mr and Mrs C Blundel. These are private gardens, never open to the public and are stunning, mostly designed by Tom Stuart-Smith. The event is in aid of Yorkshire Air Ambulance and is by ticket only. Besides the garden there will be expert talks, art stalls and live cooking. (see Mount St John garden-facebook for availability and details). We will have a stand there with a range of our best culinary herbs and will be talking on culinary herbs each day at 12.15. Some idea of our plant list will be published later today.

This week we are at The Great Yorkshire Show in the Plant Village, next to the Blue Gate. Our 2 displays were awarded Gold Medals and one the Chairman’s Cup. One is about Mints ( in profusion, around 50 varieties) hence the title Fifty Shades of Mints and one a French garden which is focused on a charming garden we know in south west France.
We have a really extensive range of herbs for sale from basils, thymes, rosemarys, savorys, chives, lemon verbena and lemon grass, Vietnamese coriander etc. and of course many, many mints.

Today we are at the Plant Hunter Fair at Thoresby Park not far from Newark. We have a great range of culinary herbs with us. It runs from 10 til 4.
