Case Study: Ensuring Safety and Security at Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” in Murrayfield Stadium

Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” made a significant impact this weekend at Murrayfield Stadium in , attracting nightly crowds of approximately 70,000 enthusiastic fans. With such large gatherings, ensuring the safety and security of attendees was a top priority. Crowdguard, in collaboration with The City of Edinburgh Council, the SCOTTISH RUGBY UNION PLC, and Police Scotland, implemented a comprehensive Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) scheme to protect concertgoers and manage the massive crowd effectively.

Figen Murray OBE
Figen needs little introduction to PSSA members and the security industry in general. On May 7, she will walk from the spot where her son was killed to Downing Street, arriving on May 22 – the seventh anniversary of his death – in her latest effort to get Martyn’s Law passed into legislation. Join us on 12th June to show your continued support for Figen and receive her latest progress report.

Alistair Crooks
Alistair is the Solution Leader for Passive Safety and HVM at HORIBA MIRA and a long-time supporter of the PSSA. He will help unpack the HVM crash test changes involved in using the new standard ISO 22343-1:2023: Part 1 (Vehicle security barriers—performance requirement, vehicle impact test method, and performance rating).

Paul Everington BSc(Hons), CEng, FIET
Paul, the MD of Wiltshire Ballistics Services Ltd, will explore integrating ballistic ratings with HVM applications.

Dr. John Farley
Jon is a protective security consultant with Arup. He will share his expertise on advanced simulation techniques for modeling the impacts of threat vehicles and providing estimations of the performance of protective design solutions.

Richard Flint MSyl
Richard is the Technical and Commercial Lead for Physical Security at Global and an LPS (Loss Prevention Standard) 1175 expert. The standard focuses on the physical security of intruder-resistant building components. This presentation will examine how LPS1175 relates to HVM products.

End of Day Two: Figen Murray's 200-Mile Walk to Downing Street for Martyn's Law...

Yesterday marked the end of day two of Figen Murray OBE's incredible 200-mile journey to Downing Street, where she is campaigning for the enactment of "Martyn's Law." This law is a crucial step toward improving security measures at public venues.

We are immensely proud to support Figen throughout her journey and will be following her and her supporters' progress closely. Check out Figen's video update from the road and join us in cheering her on!

The National Counter Terrorism Security Office (Nactso) has launched ACT in a BOX: an interactive product that enables businesses to rehearse and explore their response to terrorist incidents.

ACT in a BOX is an interactive exercising experience which enables businesses to rehearse and explore their response to fictional terrorist incidents at or near their premises.

The immersive digital tool enables businesses to rehearse and explore their response to a fictional terrorist incident at or near their premises.

The fully interactive experience puts you, your staff, and your colleagues at the heart of a scenario by allowing you to influence the content and decide what to do next. Throughout each exercise, participants collectively reflect on their workplace arrangements and physically complete activities, recording key considerations within the experience. At the end, you will have the opportunity to download a bespoke summary document.

All scenarios are designed to be completed in a group format. A nominated facilitator will run the experience on a digital device and guide discussions. Further information can be found in the comprehensive Facilitation Guide, downloadable at the start of each scenario.
