We are encouraging all live sites to book their waste services in advance of the Christmas break, especially for the first week after New Year, to ensure continuity of service.

Many suppliers are shutting for the festive period, so if we know your requirements, we can book with another supplier to avoid disruption. They can always be cancelled if we inform the supplier within 24 hours of the service going ahead.

Our offices will be closed from 24th December 2025 - 5th January 2026, however we’ll be on hand to support you across the Christmas and New Year period with our out of office service which is available 24/7. Just call us on 01604 496987!

♻️ England’s Circular Economy Strategy is coming and we’re already ahead of the curve!

Recent announcements have confirmed the national Circular Economy Strategy for England has been pushed to 2026. That makes now the perfect time for businesses to get prepared.

The Circular Economy Taskforce has identified five priority sectors where circular principles could deliver the most significant environmental and economic gains: Textiles, Transport, Construction, Agrifood, Chemicals and Plastics.

✅ We’re proud to continue building on our successful partnership with GPF Lewis, one of the fastest-growing construction and refurbishment companies in London and the South East.

We started working with the GPF Lewis team in 2023, and since then we have worked across nine projects covering waste management, project servicing and BREEAM consultancy, with more planned for next year!

Just over a year ago, GPF Lewis also appointed us to support their company-wide sustainability strategy, helping them on their journey to becoming a net-zero carbon business and supporting their commitment to taking action by measuring, tracking and improving practices. By using data driven insights on every project, we help their teams make informed decisions to drive progress towards their net zero carbon targets.

It’s been fantastic to partner with the GPF Lewis team as we share a likeminded approach to sustainability in business and they are such a pleasure to work with. We’re looking forward seeing more positive results next year!!

💚 We recently delivered our first Waste Wise Kids environmental education programme in Scotland at Georgetown Primary School and Locharbriggs Primary in Dumfries, nominated and supported by Morgan Sindall Construction Infrastructure.

Across the two schools, 352 pupils took part, achieving 100% engagement in interactive assemblies and repurposing workshops learning about waste and sustainability and also increasing their understanding of carbon with our special 'Play your carbs right!!' game. The WWK programme was adapted for Scotland in particular for the Learning for Sustainability Action Plan 2023–2030, which aims for every learning setting to become sustainable by 2030.

Ffion Baird from Morgan Sindall Construction for joining us for the Locharbriggs Primary School workshops and assembly.

💚 It’s World Kindness Day! 💚

Our culture at Encore is built on kindness and it is at the heart of who we are and how we work like making sure we check in on each other and to know that our door is always open for a cuppa!

As a business we put kindness into action especially with Project DIVERT, where we divert reusable items from construction sites back into the circular economy to support community groups in need, and also through our non profit Waste Wise Kids environmental education programme inspiring the next generation to protect our environment.

Beyond the workplace, our amazing team gives their time to volunteer and take part in many charity events, raising money for causes that mean the most to them.

We had a wonderful visit to the Nene Valley Railway (NVR) to see the circular economy in action and inspire the next generation to think sustainably!

A huge thank you to Alan and Stan from NVR for giving us a behind-the-scenes look at how NVR, one of our valued Project DIVERT beneficiaries, has made great use of donations from a recent Project DIVERT where a Cambridgeshire primary school expansion project led by R G Carter had surplus cladding. What could have ended up as waste is now adding real value in their charity shop and also helped create a room for the staff and volunteers.

The visit was made very special because we were joined by one of our Waste Wise Kids ambassadors, 10-year-old Xavier, who was keen to learn how construction materials can be repurposed and reused.

Waste Wise Kids is Encore's non profit organisation that supports primary schools teach their pupils about waste and sustainability. It was fantastic to be able to show him first hand how we can reduce waste by thinking about waste differently. He had so many questions and really enjoyed the visit!
