So…today I turn 50! There, I’ve said it.
I’ve been wondering what might happen when I reach the fifth floor? Initially overwhelmed but more excited than ever before! It’s a demanding age. In the past, 50 has been perceived as a career peak: the point when you are experienced but not yet visibly falling apart.
I’ve learnt a LOT over the past 50 years. I feel I have become wiser with knowledge from what life has taught me. I have self-developed, I feel more motivated, empowered, and feel an increase in confidence.
Many of us fear aging when we should embrace it. But the greatest lesson I’ve learnt is that we need to feel comfortable in our own skin, whatever age we are. For too long, women have seen 50 as the end of the road when, instead, we should be viewing it as the start of a new life, one in which we are truly comfortable with who we are and not having to worry about others. Instead of retreating from the world, we can embrace our place within it.
A message to myself and all the amazing people that have reached level 50, keep learning from others, keep driving your careers and business ventures, keep inspiring your teams and the people around you, 50 is the next stage and nowhere near the last phase.
