A day out at Stewart's Lane with Belmond British Pullman - fantastic to be back after an absence of 18 months. Great to catch up with all my friends in both the British Pullman, A Belmond Train team and the Merchant Navy Locomotive Preservation Society.

Great to talk about the success of the CET Systems fitted by Smart Rail Services back in 2021, 2022 and 2023 and to discuss current and future opportunities. Plus, I got to spend time with the stars of the show too....

Here at Smart Rail Services, we're great fans of Hunslet The Bear and support the amazing work he and his PA do to raise money for extremely good causes. As many will know, Hunslet comes from an extended family of very hungry bears, all of whom are big fans of the UK Railway. In order to give Hunslet a better chance of getting to the Jaffa Cakes before the rest of his family had eaten them all, earlier in the year Cousin Betty came to join us here at Smart Rail Services. I'm pleased to say that Cousin Betty is settling in well and has decided to start posting some updates on her activities. After a bit of settling in she has picked a cosy spot near the kettle and has chosen her new favourite biscuits. From here she can see everything that's going on in the Office and can stand in for me on Teams meetings when I have to attend to other things. She says that if she can't always be out and about looking out for Class 37s an original English Electric maker's plate off an ex DRS loco is not a bad alternative!

Ongoing learning and the development of additional skills is a key part of professional life but it's always good to receive validation that you have 'made the grade' and achieved a new qualification!

With support from Mike Kerry I am pleased to say that I now hold my TQUK Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Workplace Achievement, which demonstrates that I have the knowledge, tools and techniques to ensure consistent and effective assessment of Staff undertaking Safety Critical works in accordance with RIS-2700-RST 'Identification of Roller Bearing Defects'.
