Continuing with the coins from our next auction, we begin with a coin from the Iceni. An Eyelash Crescents, Petal Type base gold stater, ABC 1456. The obverse has four opposed crescents (two outline with ‘eyelash’, two solid) in centre of cruciform wreath pattern. The horse on the reverse faces right, with cabled mane and ringed-pellet above. Below is a four-spoked wheel with pellet in angles and petals around. VF/Good VF, rose-gold, boldly struck, clear ‘eyelashes’ and distinct petals Found Watton, Norfolk. Excessively Rare type, Unique? reverse die.
We look to the Corieltauvi tribe for our next coin. A South Ferriby, Star and Floating Anchor gold stater, ABC–. On the obverse is a wreath motif with leaves facing inwards, ‘coiled serpent’, three lines with dashes between. On the reverse is a lunate horse facing left, two pellets and crescent above forming sad face, large open oval and M-shape in front, eight- pointed star below. EF, neat flan, boldly struck, super serpent, sharp horse. Found Bawtry, South Yorkshire 15 March 2026. Excessively Rare this pair of dies, only four others recorded.
