A thank you to a lovely family who were responsible for two (actually way more than two if we're looking at items involved) incredible wedding gifts in very different but both consumable forms.
Enormous thanks to for making us THREE incredible wedding cakes, they were beautiful and utterly sublime.
Also to Bex's partner and mine and Matt's good friend for putting up an incredible pop up bar in the midst of a bonkers and amazing stag do, mixing potions by candlelight to prepare me to fight a dinosaur at the top of a tower.
This was a little painted tribute to they're lovely family (cat included)

Our Glados mirrored piece is available on our Etsy now! This was our first tango with using mirrors and it had to be for portals. There was no other way. We hired an entire think tank who spent a week locked in a room eating nothing but cake and by the end of it they all just yelled either "portal" or "there is no cake" at us so we took the only reasonable conclusion from that and felt confident with our glass plans and continued on with our lives.
10/10 think tank. Would hire again.

As always, credit to our glamorous model Bertie, we didn't hire him, he's just a good boy.

Bert's a big tipper at Slice + Dice, so we thought we'd surprise him (and the cafe) with a glass tip jar.
When we're not making glass we both work at Slice and Dice and even got Bert a role in the team as volunteer supervisor/snoozy motivator.
We wanted to make a 3D glass tip jar with some of the original circle design on it from the front of the old building before we moved the cafe up the road.

Some ironically small but foreboding painted glass archways. If we could make a window for each of the 16(?) Colossi that would be incredible. Shadow of the Colossus still blows minds this day, I'm not sure any other game has ever felt so legitimately mythical as that eerie and gorgeously sparce bit of storytelling.
Anyway here's two to begin with!

A better shot of one of the sword and snakes! Had a lot of fun making a celestial background for this with window cleaner droplets over the shading layer, although I perhaps overly obscured the patterns with subsequent layers. You live and learn. Will be putting some of these up on our Etsy very soon!

🔥🏕️🔥This is going down as a favourite make for sure!
We both worked together on this one, splitting the cutting, foiling and soldering from the painting and kilning.
Here's a glimpse of the process from the painting side of things, so sadly no glass cutting ASMR in this one, just a whooooole lot of mark making.

👾Glassing up a classic 👾
A Christmas commission that we were more than happy to oblige! We've spoken about a few ideas for tetris windows in the past but haven't had cause to put any into action, huge thanks to Grace for getting in touch, were chuffed to see it at home and watched over by a guardian of gaming history.

A very wintery landscape piece vaguely inspired by the view from Durham train station! This was a nice test of painting every piece of a landscape, if only subtlety. It's incredibly satisfying to brush away bits of skyline for vague cloud shadow and such.

This was a particularly special make,
I’ve very recently become an uncle for the first time to an adorable tiny thing called Isabelle! I wanted to give her a welcome-to-Earth gift that felt worthwhile, so this is what I came up with. Our surname, Harrop, translates to Hare-on-the-Hill in Old English so I wanted to do a baby hare for the baby Harrop, surrounded by November foliage and her initials. Glass painting is still a skill I’m honing down so there were things that did and didn’t work, but I think that makes it all the better as one of my first ambitious glass pieces being a keepsake for my niece. Given that stained glass inherently involves lead as well, I made sure to fix it into a wooden frame and use as few glass pieces as necessary for the piece, I’ve also fixed LEDs to the back of the frame so that it could hang on a wall as well, nicely out of reach. A lot of fun tests went on here!
I haven’t even met her yet thanks to long distance, being busy and painfully catching covid last week when I was supposed to visit, but I’ve showed this to my brother and sister-in-law now so it’s fine for me to show it off on here! Seeing the three of them is just a fantastic bonus I’ll get this Christmas now.
Anyway I’m very proud of this and hope that one day Isabelle appreciates it too! Thanks for reading my soppy post.
