GCSE Results Day - A message for all the Young people who, like myself, found High School a painful experience!

Your grades do not define you!
They do not measure who you are as a young person.
They do not take into account the countless days you pushed through the anxiety to walk through the school gates.
They do not reflect how hard it was to retain and process information in an environment that can be frightening and hostile.
They do not appreciate the days and nights of worry and anxiety.

They are letters and numbers that reflect your school experience, the abilities of your teachers and if your needs were met!

They do NOT define you, they will NOT define you!

You are amazing, I am proud of you all !!

Gaming for a lot of children is their safe place, it’s predictable and low demand.
I love this by Autistic Not Weird as it presents this from a child’s perspective.

Of course, the moral of this story isn't "let young people stay in their rooms 24/7 without complaint". It's "when young people DO come to see you, make sure they feel appreciated, welcomed and valued by communicating in ways that are in line with their comfort zones".
There's a very important difference between "thank you for spending time with us" and "thank you for FINALLY spending time with us"... and one of them is far more motivating than the other. -Chris
