CONTROVERSIAL POV… 👀
Does anyone else feel like they absolutely haven’t got their sh*t together for September? 👩🏻‍💻🤦🏻‍♀️

Okay, I need to be honest… and slightly scared to be this open.
I’ve been thinking about Tuesday’s “Back to Flamingle” post and, after sitting with it, I’ve decided I’m moving ‘Back to Flamingle’! 🦩

It’s now Tuesday 29th September!

TBH, I’m just not feeling ready to be “back at it”.
I’ve been trying to get into the “Come on Mel, it’s September… Q4… let’s smash it!” mindset.
But actually?
I’m a bit done.Tired of chasing, doing, trying to make things happen and feeling like I’m putting everything in and getting nowhere.
And I think there’s probably more to it than just being tired.

This time last year, Dad was on the fast downhill decline with Alzheimer’s and cancer.
I remember hosting Flamingle with a fake smile on my face, then dashing off to Mum’s having just missed Dad being taken off to the hospice.
And I think September has brought some of those feelings back.

So rather than force myself to be “back at it”, I’m giving myself permission to take the pressure off.
I’m excited for everything ahead, I just need to learn that it doesn’t all need to be done by now!
I’m constantly telling the women in this community that they don’t have to have it all together, that networking doesn’t have to be another thing to do, and that you can turn up exactly as you are.

And apparently, I need to listen to my own advice! 😂

So ‘Back to Flamingle’ is moving.
Not because Flamingle isn’t happening. Not because I don’t believe in it. But because sometimes getting “back to it” doesn’t mean hitting the ground running.

Maybe it means taking a breath, getting your energy back and starting when you’re ready… ish! 😂

If you’re looking at everyone else getting back into routines, businesses, school runs and Q4 plans and secretly thinking: “I haven’t got my sh*t together either…”

You are NOT alone. 🩷

There’s no September “Back to It” rulebook!

And my September "To Do List" was probably totally unachievable anyway! 😂
One day. One thing. One mingle at a time, hey? 🦩

🌸HELLO SEPTEMBER 👋🏼🦩
Wow… where the hell did August…and summer…go?!

It seems to have absolutely flown by in a daze of super-hot days, warm nights, garden sitting, plenty of sport, an eclipse 🌒, wonderful mingling, birthday celebrations, family time… and attempting to get my sh*t together! 😂

It’s been a proper summer of making memories, slowing down a little, reflecting (over thinking), planning (‘to dos’) and trying to get more organised behind the scenes.

Did I complete my entire summer to-do list?

Absolutely f**king not. 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

But do I feel like I’ve made some positive steps, had some (more) great ideas and got a clearer idea of where I’m heading into Q4?

Definitely. 🙌🏼

And now… SEPTEMBER.

Back-to-school vibes are VERY real even though I don’t actually have children to shuffle back to school anymore! 😂

There’s something about September that makes you want to sharpen your pencils, buy a new notebook and suddenly become the most organised version of yourself…Whilst simultaneously wondering:

HOW THE F*CK IS THERE CHRISTMAS STUFF IN THE SHOPS ALREADY?! 🎄🤯 WTAF?!

For me, September definitely brings a bit of that back-to-school / back-to-business feeling.

A little bit of:
😬 Have I done enough?
😰 What if I don’t?
🤯 There’s SO much to do!
🙈 Where do I even start?

…mixed with a whole lot of:
✨ Right, let’s f**king do this.
✨ Q4, I’m coming for you.
✨ There are some exciting things in the pipeline.
✨ And I’m ready to get moving again.

Because the truth is, you don’t have to have ticked everything off your summer list to move forward.

Sometimes the thinking, reflecting, regrouping and behind-the-scenes stuff is just as important.

So here’s to September.

New beginnings.
Fresh energy.
Getting back to business.
Making plans.
Taking action.
And hopefully not completely losing the plot before Christmas! 😂

There are LOTS of exciting things coming up for Flamingle 🦩 and beyond, and I’m genuinely excited to share more over the coming weeks.

End of holiday dread or getting organised?

Anyone else got that back to school feeling (yet)? That almost dread like feeling vs excitement and anticipation of what’s ahead?

I don’t even have kids or need to worry about all the ‘back to school’ shizzle, but somehow I think it’s the time of year that it’s ingrained in me and that I get that slight panic/anxious feeling of “oooh must get organised, must get a new notebook and pen, now that it’s going back to ‘normal’, what with that butterflies feeling and keep checking your school bag 🦋👀🤦🏻‍♀️🤣🤣

The last few weeks I think I’ve been kidding myself I’m kind of on holiday too and using it as an excuse… knowing that so many people are ‘out of office’ and that “I’m gonna get super organised and things sorted for the start of new term” 👀🤣 and everything is new again! 🤔

I guess it’s a bit like New Year, with a feeling of a new start to a new school year…almost that you need to be organised and ready to start the new term ready to smash it!

But I think I also need to remember “Rome wasn’t built in a day”, so quite why and how I thought I’d have all my business related goals and “to dos” ready over 6 weeks…👀🤦🏻‍♀️🤣 a bit like the school race to finish your summer holiday homework 🤔
unrealistic Leo maybe! 🤔 🤣

Anyway, onwards and upwards to September hey… and to keep checking my bag to see if I remembered everything 🤔🫢🤣

A little FlamingGlow throwback… 🌿💛

Last week, some gorgeous women in business and I swapped the emails, to-do lists and “I’ll just get this one thing done first” for a few hours of connecting, relaxing and unwinding at Aqua Sana.

This was our very first FlamingGlow Spa Escape and it was everything I’d hoped it would be. 🦩✨🙏

There was some relaxed mingling over refreshments, lovely conversations with women in business, an exclusive wellbeing session… (that some of us nearly fell asleep in) and then the opportunity to properly switch off and enjoy the award-winning Aqua Sana spa.

Just a little time to pause, breathe, connect and recharge. 🌿

And if I’m honest, I think I needed it just as much as everyone else. 💛
Although I didn’t make the most of all the spa experiences, just being away from my desk and in a different and calm environment was just so needed. And the staff looked after me and us so well.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined me for our very first FlamingGlow, for coming along, embracing something a little different and helping bring this idea of mine to life.

And a special thank you to Elvedon and Diana for helping create such a beautiful setting for our first escape, and to .uk for supporting the event and providing such lovely products for our guests to enjoy. And to for the lovely sample gifts to try🫧💛

The feedback since has been so lovely🙏thank you. and yes… there’s more FlamingGlow in the pipeline. 👀🦩

Another experience is being planned for October, and I’m already dreaming up our New Year Mingle Reset Escape too…

Because perhaps we don’t always need to work harder (must take note myself!)

Sometimes we just need to pause, and have a change of scenery 🌿
