Steve Chapman Life Coaching

Steve Chapman Life Coaching Personal Life Coaching - based in Norwich, Norfolk, UK. Do you feel that you can often be two different people at the same time? So then what happens...?

Q - How often do you talk to yourself, re-assure yourself or had battles inside your head?

- and how loud does that inner voice speak to you? Does one let you down more than the other? and say 'watch out' or 'I can't'? Well, for us humans these are our traits that form our personalities and shape our world. Sometimes these are not helpful to us at all and can be naturally left to gather momentum

and spiral if left unaddressed, over a lifetime. That is why these feelings and traits can be so powerful to us that we believe we cannot change, even though we definitely want and need to. Sometimes trying to fight against these causes more stress, anxiety and fear and we are often left with a feeling of hopelessness. Steve Chapman Coaching focuses on the core principles of effective listening, empathy and sensitivity. We all want change in some form or another, but often we do not know where to start. Thinking about making a change can take so much of our mental energy that we often dismiss the effort and happily settle for what we know best and take no action at all - this is known as procrastination. No change and life continues in the same way it always has which sustains no happiness.

Having a positive or negative attitude is a choice, whereby the latter always takes more energy and leaves you more exhausted. To make change in your life you have to create challenges that are manageable. It's no good building a high diving board to represent your first challenge. It needs to be one that's just a foot off the ground. I firmly believe that in order to have more of something in your life you need to have less of something else. In other words you've got to create room.

New series of short blog posts entitled the 'Quiet Life', starting with Part 1!

Part 1: The Quiet Trap of “I’ll Be Happy When…”Have you ever caught yourself thinking:“I’ll be happy when I get that promotion.” “I’ll feel confident when I lose weight.” “Life will finally make sense when things calm down.”It seems harmless. Motivating, even. But this mindse...

Just re-iterating, which I do every year, that you are more likely to commit to ‘resolutions’ you make during the year than in January. As in January you have an enhanced obligation to be doing something piled on by social media than any resolve put out on your part.

Recently, I have been working with a client who has repeatedly said ‘I don’t get the time’ when discussing a 30 minute activity. After analysing her time schedule, she realised that indeed there was time. What she was practising, was something called ‘commitment obstruction’ where she was not fully committed to allowing time for this - in a sense not prioritising. Thankfully, she acknowledged this barrier and is now making full progress.

‘reorganise your priorities to achieve commitment!’
