We were proud to create and install this blue plaque commemorating Louis Marchesi, who founded the Round Table at Suckling House in Norwich in 1927.

As a Norwich-based company, it means a great deal to help celebrate and preserve pieces of our city’s history, especially for a figure whose legacy has had such an impact both locally and around the world.

A new chapter in Norwich heritage was celebrated last week with the unveiling of a blue plaque at Kett’s Heights. The plaque commemorates Robert Kett, the leader of the 1549 uprising, and marks the historic site where he and his supporters gathered almost five centuries ago. Local residents, supporters of the Friends of Kett’s Heights and invited guests joined the Lord Mayor of Norwich for the ceremony which highlighted both the history of the site and the community effort behind its ongoing restoration.

We were proud to support this project through the design and making of the blue plaque. The plaque measures 300 millimetres in diameter and is produced using cast aluminium to ensure strength and long term durability. It features a blue powder coated background with three drill holes to allow secure wall mounting. To protect the raised lettering and maintain a high-quality finish, a clear gloss acrylic lacquer was applied. Every stage of the process was completed with close attention to detail so the plaque will remain a fitting and long lasting tribute to the heritage of Kett’s Heights.

We were recently commissioned to create a bespoke house sign for a customer moving into a beautiful listed property. They wanted something in keeping with the traditional style of their neighbours’ plaque while adding a subtle personal touch.

Working closely with the customer, we designed a simple yet classic layout using a bold serif typeface. To aid visitors, a directional arrow was incorporated along with the house number. A small anvil motif was added at the top of the plaque as a nod to the name Blacksmiths House, but kept understated so it would not distract from the lettering.

Once cast in solid aluminium, the sign was finished in a durable black powder-coat to match the neighbouring plaque. We carefully linished the raised letters to reveal the natural silver of the metal, creating a crisp contrast against the background. The border and anvil motif were deliberately left black to remain subtle and refined.

The finished piece is traditional, durable, and perfectly suited to its historic surroundings. It is a timeless house sign with just the right balance of detail and restraint.

The Scott Sutherland Project

Established in 2021 to honour Scottish sculptor Scott Sutherland (1910–1984), best known for the iconic Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge. Though the memorial remains widely recognised, Sutherland’s personal story had faded — until now.

We’ve been proud to support this commemorative initiative from day one, working alongside Steve Nicoll to craft a series of eleven bronze plaques — each with a unified design and unique, site-specific text. A simple idea, executed with care.

Eight plaques are already in place, and it’s been a privilege to help bring Scott Sutherland’s legacy back into focus.
