Stephen Green and Associates (SG&A) was set up by Steve in 2005. Steve’s original job was as a diagnostic radiographer (qualifying in 1980) and he worked at the Norfolk and Norwich and other hospitals in that role until 2002. During that time he became a clinical teacher in the school of radiography at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, and joined the staff at the Suffolk College, Ipswich, when the

two schools amalgamated to provide the radiography degree qualification. His interest in radiation developed during this period, where he was encouraged to go back to University and became a fully certificated Radiation Protection Adviser in 2005 to allow him to work independently as a Chartered Radiation Protection Professional and educator within this field. As the business grew (we became a limited company in 2008), Debbie Green (Steve’s wife) joined him in the office and took over all the administrative roles ‘behind the scenes’, also organising appointments, arranging courses and keeping the finances in order. There are very few independent RPA’s who are able to provide the bespoke RPA services, individually tailored to the requirement of the company or business. As the business has grown we realised that with so few RPA’s around, we really ought to be a part of growing the new RPA generation. Sarah first joined us in 2013 and is now fully certificated, then Liam joined us in March 2015 and is already over a year into his RPA training. In the office, we’ve put together an excellent team in Jac and Karen, who have brought great admin skills with them allowing Debbie to take on grandma duties and only be in the office for 3 days a week. Stephen Green & Associates currently provides RPA services to

• NDT / Industrial Radiographers
• Fire and Rescue Service
• Universities
• Transport companies
• We have also aided many different companies and individuals with the assessment and repatriation of contaminated goods. In addition to Stephen and Sarah we have several other fully certificated highly qualified and experienced associates who, in conjunction with our wider contacts within the field of radiation protection, allow us to be able to provide a broad range of expert and specialist opinions
Alongside Radiation Protection Services, SG&A provide education and training for all aspects of radiation protection, legislation and radiology. As well as offering a number of certificated and accredited courses (e.g. Certificate in Dental Radiography for Nurses and Radiation Protection Supervisors courses), we have given presentations to other groups including the Fire and Rescue Service, Dangerous Goods Safety Advisers, the British Dental Association, thorium users, foundation courses at colleges, PIRSDG courses (pharmaceutical industry) and basic radiation safety courses for universities

SG&A are pleased to announce we have been granted RPA body Status by the HSE.

SG&A have satisfied strict criteria of competence required of a professional 'RPA Body'. We have shown the HSE that we have the appropriate arrangements in place to act in the capacity of an RPA Body, including the provision of RPA advice as a corporate organisation, under the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR17).
