Your presence is very reassuring to your little one. So if you’re trying “everything” to help settle your little one, take a breath and just be there for them. Sometimes trying everything can be the problem and overstimulate them. So try just sitting there until they fall asleep. Or have intervals with a quick Pat or stroke.

This will help you build consistency and also help keep you calm as a parent 🤍

Co sleeping at it’s finest 😆

Who’s a better sleeping partner, your child or your partner? 🙈

I’ve never co slept with my little boy, only because it makes him fussier and he likes his space.

However if I did co sleep, I’m pretty sure I’d opt to sleep with my wriggly child over my snoring partner 😆

Anyone else have this problem?

Nap Transition - or nap drop.

The one thing to remember when it comes to dropping a nap is that it’s not just an instant drop. Your little one will start showing signs of dropping a nap but this does not mean it’s time to drop straight away. You may face a few weeks of your usual naps then maybe less naps.

These transitions are not always easy so on the days naps fall short of your little is tired, out them to be a little earlier to help or offer a later top up nap that will help towards the bedtime push.

Are you at a phase of a nap drop? Tell me all about it in the comments

There is no need to stop feeding at night at a certain age, however from 6 months feeding should be well established so you can start to wean off from night feeds from this age.

If you find yourself feeding. Pre and more at night then check is it really hunger? Or try to fill up more during the day!

If you notice your little us gone a few nights without the feeds then keep going with it and try not to bring it back as this is a good sign then can go all night without feeding 😃

Overtired - a very common word used in the sleep and child industry.

Have a read through this to help ensure your little one doesn’t get overtired too often! If the overtiredness builds up it could lead to restless nights and probably a grumpy baby too!!

Some babies/ children don’t show they are tired so it’s hard to spot the signs, but using their awake guide will help you give an idea of how long they have been awake and when their next sleep should be!

I know myself my boy is a very upset and grumpy little boy when he is overtired, how is your little one?

Wake windows should I use them or not❔

Wake windows are a great guide to help you indicate when your little may need to go for a nap or to bed.

🌟 The older they get the longer their wake window can stretch.

🌟 If a nap wasn’t very long you can shorten the next wake window for the next nap or bedtime.

🌟 They aren’t a MUST but they can be very helpful in planning roughly when your little one is tired enough for a sleep.

🌟 Some infants, often the very alert ones, don’t show signs of tiredness so these wake windows can be handy to encourage wind down time before sleep.

🌟 If your little one is cat napping consider if the wake window was too short or too long and tweak it slightly.

If you download my free guide on my website, this has a great sleep chart which outlines exactly how much sleep your little one needs for their age!

Do you follow wake windows?

Fall Back - Autumn Clock change!

Clocks are going back 1 hour this weekend wooohooo it means an extra hour in bed!!!! (Maybe for those who don’t have children!)

Swipe along to see some tips on how you can prepare for the clock change.

For those of you who have younger children, you might want to take a gradual shift, otherwise you can do nothing and just let your child adjust accordingly.

It may take around a week for your child to fully adjust so just keep that in mind 😊

Let’s talk it through together.

DM me “Sound Asleep” if you’d like to arrange a free discovery call.

If I can share some free tips there and then I will, otherwise we can talk about working together and try to identify any sleep struggles and what I can help with.

Maybe it’s a quick fix, or maybe it will talk a bit of work either way I came into this career to help parents and little ones get the sleep they need.

Your 12-18 month nap expectations 👇

If you’re in the age bracket already then you’ll know this nap isn’t an easy one, I certainly have found this the hardest so far.

1) nap times vary
2) one nap is easier than the other
3) day 1 nap is really good day 2,3,4 naps are just awful

Classic signs of a transition!

Typically the nap will drop between 13-17 months and average is around 15 months.

Follow your babies lead and only drop to 1 nap if you know they are ready, as you won’t want to build up any more over tiredness.

Has your little one dropped to one nap yet? How did you find it?
