Spent the whole day avoiding three, piddly, stupid emails...

Baked a cake. Did the washing. Scrolled Reddit for what I can only describe as an ungodly amount of time. Had an excellent massage.

The emails were about my VAT situation and I was absolutely convinced they were going to be terrible. So I just... didn't open them.

At 3pm I decided that I didn't have to do anything about them today but I did have to open them. Just had to read them. And I couldn't decorate the cake until I had...

They were nothing. Three separate people saying nothing has happened yet.

I'd spent an entire day with that sitting on my chest for absolutely no reason.

I have ADHD so I know 'just open it' is easier said than done, but the bribe always works for me. Promise yourself you don't have to act, just read, then you can ice the cake.

The thing is, the problem exists whether you open it or not. It's happening in the background - the only difference is whether you're going to worry about a made up thing or deal with the real life situation.

If there's something in your inbox right now doing exactly this to you, maybe today's the day.

My newsletter goes out weekly and it's full of this kind of thing, link in bio if you want in.

The workplace ‘normal’ that's actually costing you money

Auto-enrolment, payslips you never actually read, pay rises that disappear, pension matching nobody explained. None of it was ever spelled out to you, you were just expected to know.

Here are 9 normalised UK workplace habits that are costing you money (and nobody ever tells you to check them). Much more like this in the weekly newsletter - helping you earn more, save more and invest more.

Which one are you guilty of? Tell me below

I haven't bought kitchen roll in over a decade. A new friend once thought I just couldn't afford it. 😅

He'd seen I use old t-shirts for handkerchief and wiping up spills (not at the same time...) and just assumed I was struggling.

I am not struggling. I am simply a frugal queen. 🤩

Swipe through for the full tour: the fabric rag drawer (t-shirts → cloths → cat puke rags, RIP), the great glasses Frankenstein-ing of 2026, and the trouser patching that's really about Dr Chris's thighs and nothing else.

I do all of this because it fits how I think about the world, not because I can't afford nice things or because I'm scared of what happens if I don't.

The question worth sitting with - are you choosing frugal because it's you - or white-knuckling every purchase because money feels like it could vanish?

One feels good and the other is exhausting. Most of us are probably doing a bit of both without realising it.

If you're not sure which camp you're in, that's exactly the kind of thing we untangle in a session. No judgement or jargon - just a proper conversation about your money and what you actually want from it.

Single session: 90 minutes, £120. Link in bio to book. 🧡

Fancy dress hatred + fat + Stockholm = a very specific kind of rage

A spiral caused by a shock fancy dress theme at my new workplace do. I am a funky dresser on an every day basis, but fancy dress makes me mad on so many levels and it feels like such an unpopular opinion!

It's hard enough finding clothes when you're fat, never mind on a theme which doesn't inspire me. I've no interest in spending my money on s**t clothes I'll only wear once. I've no interest in making clothes on a theme that doesn't thrill me. How is any of that sustainable??

I do have an interest in socialising with my colleagues though, and proving I'm not always a sweaty, harassed mess. So. I'll find a solution.

Drop a comment - what do you actually do when a party has a fancy dress theme you can't be bothered with? Do you also hate fancy dress? Am I the only one?! What would you do?
