Layering textures is the simplest designer trick to make a home feel cosy, thoughtful and stylish. Think wool and bouclé throws, velvet cushions, warm-toned wood and soft, diffused lighting. Start with a neutral base, mix finishes and vary scale ... then let the textures do the work.

Want the full how-to? I’ve written a short blog all about layering textures for winter warmth. Practical room-by-room tips, sustainable picks and a designer’s “three texture” rule you can try this weekend.

This HMO bedroom, at our Montpelier project, shows how shared accommodation can still feel modern, comfortable, and well thought-out, even when its a compact space. Durable finishes, layered lighting, and a calm colour palette create a space that’s practical for studying and relaxing without sacrificing style.

Soft tones, natural textures, and thoughtful details ... the quiet luxuries that make a space feel like home.
It’s those little touches, the curve of a handcrafted piece, the warmth of natural materials, the balance of simplicity and soul that bring calm and beauty to everyday living.

Because real design isn’t loud… it’s felt.

This contemporary kitchen at Montpelier Road makes the most of every inch, pairing sleek matte cabinetry with black marble-effect worktops and gloss subway tiles for a modern, timeless look.

Natural light floods in through the wide window, highlighting thoughtful styling and subtle contrasts that make this compact space feel open and inviting.

Because great design isn’t just about how a space looks, it’s about how it works for you. 🖤

Starting the week strong with another look at our Montpelier communal space for !
This compact area called for clever design moves, we introduced bench seating to maximize flow and functionality. The benches neatly tuck under the dining table, keeping things open and airy.

We almost added a slatted black wall to zone the sofa and dining areas, a striking idea in SketchUp, but sometimes, budget, space, and real-life perspective guide the best design decisions.

Smart design is all about balance — style, practicality, and a little bit of restraint.

MONTPELIER COMMUNAL SPACE ....

This living space is all about layering textures, rich contrast, and soft lighting to create a room that feels warm and inviting from day to night.

Dark walls add drama and depth, while the grey sofa keeps things calm and comfortable. We’ve introduced warming tones through cushions ... think burnt orange and earthy neutrals. to soften the scheme.

Finishing touches?
✔️ Wall lights to highlight artwork that we designed ourselves.
✔️ Mixed patterned cushions for dimension
✔️ Natural wood + woven textures to ground the space

Comfort + style = the perfect match 🧡

If your home could do with a touch of warmth this season, I’d love to help you create a space that feels beautifully, authentically you.

I've been a little absent on here of late (apart from reposting humorous reels of course! Ever the professional!)
So thought I'd best make a comeback with our latest project ... well, I say latest - we completed it in September (quite how we are now in November I'm not sure!)
Stick around for some student accommodation inspiration ....
