into customers. As a student of engineering and not marketing, I had a bit of a shock when I found myself in a marketing role. I was juggling different priorities in the business from cash flow management to operations to recruitment and business management. Over the years I developed a love of marketing but I did have to learn the hard way;

🦦 I was burned by marketing agencies that took advantage of my inexperience and lack of understanding of marketing lingo

🦦 I felt like I had to keep starting from scratch because I got bogged down with client work and never had the time to implement what was in the marketing plan

🦦 At times I didn't have a marketing plan and felt like I was making it up as I went along

🦦 It took me years to figure out how to explain in simple terms what we did and ended up confusing people or sending them to sleep

I could go on....

I discovered that there is no cookie-cutter approach to marketing - you have to find your own way that's in line with your reality, your way of doing things, and your objectives. I discovered that less is more and more often than not the simplest plans yield the biggest results. However, the BIGGEST thing I learned was that I was already sitting on an incredible mountain of value and that it wasn't about doing more, spending more and being in more spaces - it was about doing LESS but BETTER and leveraging the heck out of all the assets and resources we had available. This summer has completely kicked my arse

and I’ve been feeling quite wobbly lately

trying to get through the school summer holidays, selling my house, trying to buy a new one and it all falling through, trying to keep two businesses going as well as trying to be a good parent, friend and leader

It’s not all plain sailing and I know i’m not the only one feeling a bit wobbly

and sometimes when you’re wobbling around even the smallest thing can feel like it will tip you over the edge

this is where movement comes in and when you move and create motion - you can really change how you feel and put yourself in a much better position to reset your day

Take yourself outside and go for a walk
Sprint up and down some stairs a few times
Do some squats in your kitchen

or if you can go and throw a heavy barbell around a gym

Not enough people talk about the reality - it’s not all sunshine and roses and what you see online isn’t always what’s going on behind the scenes.

The old me would put a huge amount of energy into showing up, not showing any cracks and powering through

Over the years i’ve learned that sometimes you have to be honest with yourself and others but instead of dwell and sit with the discomfort - move your body and change how you feel

Even if it only works for a few hours, it can really make a massive difference both to yourself and those around you
