At first, when you see Ayres Sensory integration in practice, you may think "well this just looks like a big play session!", actually, when done right, it looks just like that, however a trained and certified therapist is constantly thinking about how they can be providing the client with specific movement and rich sensory opportunities that target specific neural pathways for each individual. This is based on an indepth data driven assessment of their strengths and needs.

At all times, our goal is to improve functional participation, independence and well being through regulation.

In this image below, you can see this total superstar standing up for the first time ever in the Buddyboat Southpaw UK which is in fast linear motion whilst maintaining their postural control, equilibrum responses and body alignment. This skill has taken a while to develop, and as a result of these mechanisms working well, he is now able to climb trees, starting to show interest in riding a bike and has the confidence to experience his body moving through space with increased spatial awareness can control.

It has been an extreamly beautiful journey to be part of, I felt honoured as I witnessed his progress.

It's moments like this that remind me daily how
lucky I am to have the privilege to be part of these special journeys.
