🍷 Behind the vines 🍷

Despite the unpredictable weather we are experiencing at the moment, the vines are growing well here at the vineyard. Hear from Tim as he shares what's keeping the team busy this week.

We're now praying for some warm sunshine to bring the vines out into flower!

Today we said goodbye to Jazz, part of our vineyard family.

She had a brilliant life meeting and greeting visitors to our vineyard, and will be sadly missed by us all and everyone that met her.

She was a good old age, and lived life to the full. She is now at peace chasing those rabbits and squirrels over the rainbow bridge.

It starts with a handful of hops. If you’ve ever wondered what hops actually are, then this is them. Hops are the flowers used in brewing to add bitterness, flavour, and aroma to beer. Depending on the variety, they can bring everything from citrus and tropical fruit notes to floral, herbal, and piney characteristics.

Here at Yorkshire Heart, we use around 20 different hop varieties throughout the year across our core range and monthly specials. We love experimenting with hops grown in the UK, Europe, the USA, and New Zealand, each bringing something unique to the brew.

While we don’t currently grow our own hops, it’s something we revisit every year. The idea of creating a beer brewed with Yorkshire Heart-grown hops is definitely an exciting one, so just watch this space.
