The MCC805 Mini Crawler Crane provided the lifting solution for installing shuttering as part of the Leeds Flood Alleviation Scheme along the River Aire.

Access narrowed to just 3m, with only a 5m-wide working area beneath Kirkstall Viaduct. The shuttering weighed 600kg and needed to be lifted over 4m-high rebar cages, with the full lifting arrangement reaching around 12m.

At just 2.5m wide, with an 8-tonne maximum capacity, 15m maximum lifting height and 360° continuous slew, the MCC805 was well suited to the restricted site.

Mini Spider Cranes weren’t designed to take the easy road. Sometimes, there isn’t one. 🕷️⚓

Two UNIC URW-706 Mini Spider Cranes travelled by pontoon to reach this canal lock gate replacement project.

Once in position at either end of the lock, the cranes supported the removal of the existing balance beams and lock gates, before lifting the new gates into place, handling loads weighing up to 3 tonnes.

With a 4.7m-wide, 5m-deep lock and restricted access throughout, this was exactly the kind of project where specialist compact lifting equipment is essential.

Seamless facades often take more than just heavy lifting power.

When glazing needs to be installed beneath a soffit or structural overhang, the challenge stems beyond the weight of the glass and becomes an issue of getting the load past the crane hook’s reach.

On this project, the Libro 5000 Overhang Beam was used to create the offset needed to position oversized glazing beneath the soffit. By counterbalancing the load, the beam allowed the glass to be extended beyond the crane hook while maintaining a controlled lifting arrangement.

Paired with the Hydraulica 4000, it enabled glazing units weighing up to 3.6 tonnes to be installed where a conventional vertical lift would not have been possible.

At this luxury development in Chelsea, GGR Group combined the compact UNIC URW-706 Mini Spider Crane with the Libro 1000 3D Head Overhang Beam.

The solution provided the reach, movement and precise glass control needed to work around soffits, nearby façades, pedestrian routes and a shallow trench within the lifting area.

Careful planning and specialist equipment allowed each glazing unit to be positioned accurately at the building’s North and South entrances.
