Future Systems (Sussex)

Future Systems (Sussex) Value. Experience. Appropriate Solutions. These three things are our mission statement in a nutshell and it tells you exactly what we deliver.

We mix 25+ years experience in small business and charity IT support with a lot of common sense and a handy understanding of what it means to run a small organisation. That combination results in great pre-sales advice to select the most appropriate products, services and processes. Then it delivers smooth implementations and high productivity. Finally, it results in what we are most interested in

- loyal clients with whom we maintain long-term relationships to deliver the best on-going support and overall value for money. In fact, that's why you might not have heard of us before - we don't need to advertise. We help our clients to grow and they stay so loyal and content that almost all of our new clients comes from their recommendations and referrals.

Before you call the helpdesk next week about your work-from-home laptop crashing, freezing or just being weird, please consider whether it’s 30 degrees outside and you’ve left it next to a south-facing window for the last 8 hours 🥵🥵🥵😉.

Happy to have donated our Saturday to Ousedale PTA. We spent the day upgrading and preparing this lovely batch of Dell laptops to be given to our local school to support its students. Thank you to our charity and small business clients, who decommission their laptops through us for socially responsible disposal. We added one of our own plus £150 of chargers to complete the donation. Now with a new lease of life, these older laptops can continue to be useful.

Scam phone call alert:
We just received a scam phone call from “Sky”, claiming we were going to get up to 30% reduction because of all of the complaints they’ve had about high bills. Well that seemed a bit odd but I let them talk me through it because …..well, who doesn’t want cheaper bills, right? As it went on, the guy with an American accent calling from a “Brighton” phone number transferred me to the billing department in Asia. I gave them my email address, which they used to send me a GENUINE Sky email giving me a security code to set or reset a password. Not quite sure what they were aiming to achieve but, if we’d given them that code as they were requesting, they would have accessed our account, changed our password and locked us out of our account while they were completing their scam/fraud activity.
Bottom line: If it seems too good to be true, assume that it’s a scam!

Russian state-sponsored cyber criminals are at it again. If you have a TP-Link broadband router, check the list of affected models in this National Cyber Security Centre news article: https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/news/apt28-exploit-routers-to-enable-dns-hijacking-operations?utm_medium=email&_hsenc=p2ANqtz-82e6VvNb53vmta2VGUhugidSSs8HxGnk3a7cmVAYPfKYt7jdj2I9DOeZO2XqQ6GWtVEG8GljnEvGD7fHbWNZWYUS0vo-8fNSTBhhi3jpPCF7GcF9E&_hsmi=133384152&utm_content=133384152&utm_source=hs_email. If your router is on the list, speak to us about updates or upgrading to a business-class Draytek router.

Russian cyber actor APT28 exploit vulnerable routers to hijack DNS, enabling adversary‑in‑the‑middle attacks and theft of passwords and authentication tokens.

Several of our clients’ users gave away their Office 365 password to scammers in the last month. This week, 1 spent £1,000 on John Lewis vouchers for a scammer. Last year, 1 transferred £60,000 to a fake company.

Here’s why you don’t buy non-genuine printer cartridges! Didn’t follow our own advice: took a gamble on a set of cheap non-genuine cartridges on Amazon as we needed them in a hurry. Fitted the black today and the output was awful. Tried to remove it and it broke, spilling ink all over the printer, desk and carpet 😫🫣

When it comes to broadband, you get what you pay for. Sky and TalkTalk customers like it cheap, scoring highly for 'value for money', despite being among the worst for speed, reliability and customer service! If you don't want Virgin Media, which is very reliable but a bit pricey, then Zen Internet is amazing ..... when it works. The best all-rounders (from the Expert Reviews survey results) were Vodafone, EE and Plusnet, in that order.
If your business or charity is dependant on broadband, then a consumer-grade broadband service isn't the solution. Our low-contention business-grade managed broadband services cost slightly more but offer the reliability and support that you need - give us a call to discuss your options.
