ALL GOOD THINGS COME TO AN END // Please note; The Quirk Space CIC is now
permanently closed

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who supported The Quirk Space CIC...it has been a wonderful journey with many great achievements along the way and these moments are what I will continue to hold onto as I move forward into the unknown.

I love a challenge, but I could never have predicted that business would have been affected by a global pandemic, Brexit, the Ukranian conflict and a cost of living crisis in the first three years of trading.

I have loved every second of life as The Quirk Space and have given blood, sweat and tears for the past 3 years, but sadly it is now officially no longer viable to continue on in such an unpredictable and turbulent climate.

The customers of The Quirk Space are all incredibly special to both me as an individual, as well as the team, and together we have loved providing you all with a safe, inclusive space that was fast becoming a creative hub in Olney, as well as serving lots of delicious food (that just happened to be vegan!).

BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND // We are taking some well-earned time off to spend with our families 🥰

Please note: We will be closed for the Bank Holiday weekend (Sat 27th and Sunday 28th) and the week commencing 29th August (Monday to Friday inclusive)

We are open as usual on Friday 26th August (10-4) for coffee, cake, treats and food.

These sessions are the perfect opportunity for participants to experience drawing portraits from life; whether as a complete beginner, a novice or an experienced artist.

Thanks must also go to John, who sat for the duration of the session. Swipe through to see him being presented with Paul’s work.

These sessions are a great opportunity to practice portraiture from life in a completely judgement free environment.

The session provides you with everything that you need, although you are more than welcome to also being your own materials…and we also have a break for coffee and cake too 👍

TAKE A MOMENT // Today has been a poignant one.

What started as a pretty standard Tuesday, has turned into a day of reflection, adjusting course and realising just how far we have come!

This pic shows our main cafe area just two years ago…not a seat in sight and ceilings tumbling down around us with a lockdown in place, no covid funding and no possibility of trading.

It may be no surprise that business has been tough for us recently at (that is just the way of the world), but a chance encounter with my notebook from 2018 which has all my plans, notes and dreams of what The Quirk Space could be, has reinvigorated my passion and reinforced exactly why I do the things I do!

I am still on a journey, but I promise to continue towards those concrete and obtainable goals that the naive, optimistic and fearless Hayley of 2018 had in mind….and I refuse to let her down! She knew what she wanted and how it was going to happen!

Here’s to TQS becoming exactly what it was destined to be 😎🤘🌱

We are keen to work with local creatives and businesses to ensure a full offering of events for our eclectic community.
