💙 Meet Cavan and his family.

Living with Baraitser-Winter Syndrome and epilepsy means Cavan requires specialist support tailored to his individual needs. In this video, his mum Candice shares how Alcedo Care's trained carers help Cavan build confidence, develop independence and enjoy meaningful experiences in his community.

From learning everyday life skills to spending time with carers who truly understand him, Cavan's journey shows the positive impact that person-centred care can have on both individuals and their families.

One of Cavan's biggest passions is vehicles - especially fire engines! 🚒 A huge thank you to the team at Carlisle East Fire Station for welcoming Cavan for a visit and showing him around the engines. Experiences like these help create lasting memories and support Cavan to explore the things he loves most. ❤️

As Candice says: "He always comes home bouncing and happy."

Learning Disability Week 2026 - Do You See Me?

This Learning Disability Week, we're celebrating the incredible people with learning disabilities and autism who we are proud to support every day.

The theme, "Do You See Me?", is a reminder to look beyond labels and diagnoses and see the whole person - their strengths, talents, goals, interests and achievements. It's about ensuring people are seen, heard, valued and included in every aspect of life.

Our care and support is built around the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to live a fulfilling life, make their own choices, build independence and be part of their community. This week, we're celebrating the unique individuals we support and continuing to champion a more inclusive society for all.

💙 Do you see me? We do! ❤️

This month marked a truly significant milestone as S was finally discharged home after spending the last two years in Alder Hey Hospital.

Since February, the team at Alcedo Care Warrington has been working closely with healthcare professionals, family members and multidisciplinary teams to plan and coordinate a safe transition back into the community. Over the past four months, extensive preparation, specialist training, clinical planning and collaborative working have taken place to ensure every aspect of S's care and support was ready for this important day.

A special thank you to Mike, our Area Manager, who has led and coordinated the discharge process throughout. We'd also like to recognise S's dedicated care team, whose commitment, professionalism and person-centred approach have been instrumental in making this transition possible.

Supporting individuals to leave hospital and return to the place they call home is one of the most rewarding aspects of what we do. Seeing S reunited with family and surrounded by the people who matter most is a reminder of the life-changing impact that effective partnership working and high-quality care can achieve.

Welcome home, S. Wishing you every happiness in this exciting new chapter. 💙

🎙️ NEW PODCAST EPISODE OUT NOW 🎙️

In the latest episode of Alcedo Care In Focus, John sits down with Jenny, founder of the Forget Me Not Dementia Cafe in Blackpool, to hear the incredible story behind a community that has become a lifeline for so many local people.

After her husband was diagnosed with dementia, Jenny found herself navigating a world of care, support and uncertainty. Determined to help others facing similar challenges, she created the Forget-Me-Not Dementia Café.

John hears about Jenny’s inspiring journey and speaks to some of the café’s regular visitors, who share why the group means so much to them. From friendship and understanding to practical advice and emotional support, the café provides a welcoming space where people can share experiences, worries and laughter with others who truly understand.

As Jenny beautifully puts it:

💙 “I thought I was setting up a café, I've set up a community.”

Whether you're living with dementia, caring for a loved one, or simply want to learn more, this is a conversation not to be missed. Listen now: https://alcedocare.info/4v6GQea

It was great to see John attending the recent networking event hosted by the Spinal Injuries Association Preston Community Group.

As a trusted partner of SIA, we really value opportunities to get out and about, meet new faces and hear first-hand the experiences of people living with spinal cord injuries.

Many thanks to everyone involved for such a welcoming event. We look forward to supporting future meetings and continuing to work alongside SIA to help people live independently and achieve their goals.

Shout out to The Flower Bowl Entertainment Centre for a fantastic venue 😀

School’s nearly out for summer! ☀️🚗🎨⚽

Looking after a child or young person with additional needs during the holidays can be rewarding - but also challenging at times. That’s where we can help.

Our children’s complex care teams can support with short-term packages over the summer holidays, including personal care, medications, complex clinical needs, routines and community activities.

Most importantly, we support young people to spend time doing the things they love - whether that’s days out, hobbies, sensory activities or simply having fun and building confidence.

It can also give parents and family carers the chance to take a well-earned break, catch up on everyday life or simply have a bit of breathing space.

If you’d like to learn more about summer support, get in touch with our team on 0300 373 5871 (option 1) 💙or email [email protected]
