More updates from the refurb in Wigan, porch footing dug out concreted and built up to DPC ready for slab preparation and concrete, inside floors prepped and now concreted, this is a little bit different to a usual slab because the customer wanted under floor heating so we put visqueen, concrete, 100mm Kingspan insulation on top of the concrete and then the underfloor heating on top of that with a 75mm screed. New lintels and wall plate on ready for roof/ new dormer

Structural work completed on this job in Wigan, the first picture the bay was very dangerous and didn’t have the adequate support to carry the weight of the brickwork and re fit the new downstairs window.

We have now made this structurally sound with a reinforced steel post running up the side of the window which will give the windows added support and will be cladded when the new window is fitted tomorrow, this steel post is bolted into the RSJ going across which also catches the inside skin aswell as the outside which has been studded and insulated to keep it lightweight on the inside we have then tied into this in with our brickwork. 🧱 swipe for the results ➡️

A little bit about us and the company, we are a family business who have been covering building work around the Wigan area since 2005 when Orrell Builders started. ✅

John has over 45 years experience both commercial and domestic work there’s nothing in the building game that John doesn’t know, specialising in groundwork’s,bricklaying and stonework and is a master at project management. 👏

My grandad Neil who is now retired has been in the building game since he was 16 his knowledge is priceless, building anything from full housing complexes which was also ran by himself, he was a builder which didn’t just know how to do bits and bobs of each trade but he mastered groundwork’s joinery and bricklaying. 👌

My Dad Andrew has also been in the building game for over 40 years, he is a fantastic builder who has also ran big commercial construction projects with his dad Neil. One of the best carpenters around without a shadow of a doubt, but also has mastered groundwork’s and roofing. 🙌

Finally myself Tom has been in the building game for 8 years now, determined to keep the family name and company at the highest level. I started my apprenticeship at Wigan and Leigh after school which I got my level 1 and 2 joinery qualifications I then moved onto bricklaying as this was my real passion and I got my qualifications in bricklaying aswell in 2020, since then I have just been learning from the best. 👌
