Another busy day at Oswestry, with strong demand across the sections. Prime lambs returned a solid overall average, calves and weanlings met a fast trade, while store lambs and breeding rams continued to attract plenty of interest. A small entry came forward between the regular fortnightly sales, but demand remained strong throughout.
🏆 Texel x lambs topped at £135.
💷 Plenty of lambs sold around the £130 mark.
📊 Overall Average: £128
Buyers remain keen to source store lambs, and vendors are encouraged to take advantage of the current level of trade.

Another additional offering of breeding rams met a strong trade, continuing what has been a very successful season for ram sales at Oswestry.
🏆 Texel Rams topped at 800gns from D Falkner.
⭐ Further rams from the same vendor sold to 780gns & 700gns.
🐏 Rams in working condition generally traded between 250gns–400gns.
🐏 Two-year-old Cheviot Rams reached 300gns.
📅 A further sale of breeding rams will take place next week, with entries already booked.

Just over 400 cull sheep were forward, with leaner sheep accounting for a sizeable proportion of the entry.
The effects of last week’s wet weather were becoming increasingly apparent, particularly among the poorer hill-bred sheep.
🏆 Top Ewe – £208 from the Savage family.
🐏 The same vendor also topped the cull rams at £192 for a Charollais ram.
➡️Welsh ewes generally traded around £70, while the plainest sorts sold between £25–£35.

🐄 WEANLINGS (34)

A small entry of weanlings met an exceptional trade, with several buyers leaving the market without fulfilling their requirements. 🔥
🏆 Leading the sale was a suckler-bred Limousin steer from R E Jones & Son at £1,580.
⭐ The same vendor also sold six-month-old steers to £1,190 & £1,180.
🐄 Dairy-bred weanlings reached £1,280 for an Aberdeen Angus x heifer from E Pryce.
🐂 A useful offering of feeding bulls saw a pair of pure Hereford bulls sell to £1,310.
🐮A packet of four black-and-white bulls reached £900.
