Why would I say this as a social media manager? 🤔 Because it’s the truth!

Very early on in my business journey, over 13 years ago no, I was taught to understand everything in your business before you pay someone else to do it or how do you know they’re going a good job? 🤷🏻‍♀️

If you have no clue 😵‍💫 what to post on instagram and you hire someone to do it thinking they’ll wave a magic wand, you’ll have an engaged audience, 1000s of new followers that convert to sales within the first month then you’re going to be bitterly disappointed 😞

That’s NOT how social media works. It’s a part of your marketing strategy, ONE part of it. This is why understanding how it works will help you work with a SMM in the future 👏🏼

3 things I’m leaving behind in 2023 after realising I have ADHD…

👋🏼 Trying to do all the things

👋🏼 Setting unrealistic goals

👋🏼 Working 365 days of the year

This year has burnt me out. Having a baby and not taking any maternity leave was just bloody stupid, I reduced my workload but still it was far too much with 4 other children in tow as well. I’m scheduling the whole of August with no work and a week over Christmas for 2024, if it’s scheduled already then it’s going to happen!

I’ve set big goals for the past god knows how many years and have I ever hit them? Probably not! Now that I understand my ADHD I know that I need a dopamine fix and if I’ve procrastinated my way through the year and I’m nowhere near hitting the goal I’m going to get disheartened and give up. From 2024 I’m going to be much more realistic and intentional with my goal setting.

And by intentional I mean I’m going to focus on less things. Trying to be successful in several areas of business while raising my 4 neurodiverse boys, fighting for them to get the help they need, having a baby and studying to become an ADHD practitioner has been absolute chaos. Like who do I think I am? I’m certainly no super woman! So I’m going to focus on less areas in my business and put my all into a few things rather than spread myself thin over a lot of things to avoid the overwhelm and ADHD paralysis. Here’s hoping anyway 🤞🏼
