We are absolutely delighted to share with you something our founder and a Full Member of the Club of Rome, Dr Stanislav Edward Shmelev have been working on for quite a long time. The seminal paper "Comparative Multidimensional Assessment of Progress Towards Sustainability at the Macro Scale: The Cases of 12 OECD Countries, China, and Brazil" has finally been published https://www.mdpi.com/2071-1050/17/17/7772 It attempts the impossible: to deepen our understanding what sustainability really is, but, more importantly, it attempts to provide a comprehensive comparative, dynamic and multidimensional assessment of sustainability of a whole range of countries over a very long time horizon. To start in 1960 really meant that some countries will not be possible to include for the lack of continuous data. Some issues with continuous data still remain and we had to resort to proxies where necessary. Overall, we are very pleased that the paper is published. Please read, share and cite!

It is with great sadness that I have to share the news that my long-time friend and co-author, Prof. Robert U. Ayres has passed away. A true pioneer of ecological economics worthy of a Nobel Prize that was never awarded, Robert Ayres has been a prolific author and a wonderful friend. Member of the Environment Europe Foundation advisory board, Bob has taught ecological economics at the executive programmes I have been running in Oxford. Bob's love of life was unparalleled, he enjoyed skiing, cycling and travelling and collected rare edition books. I will cherish the memories of playing scrabble with him and his late wife, Leslie in his Paris flat. Some of our joint work is available following this link: https://www.mdpi.com/2071-1050/13/13/7352 or https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-319-38919-6 . RIP dear friend.
