Chorley in Lancashire, like many parts of the UK, has a rich history. The town's wealth came mainly from the cotton industry. History records harsh environments and workers exploitation during that period, with child labor, work [lethal] hazards and long shifts with poor or without workers rights. And yet, there will be the unsung heroes who no doubt were part of a wider movement ['first successful co-op in 1844, Rochdale, Lancashire'?] to change all that in the North and beyond! Like many people in the country, people organised and fought for much of those rights we benefit from now. Chorley was key in coal mining and a host to an important manufacturer of ammunition during the Second World War.

Thanks to the Chorley Council Climate Change Strategy, the people of Chorley can find information and participate in ways to cut emissions, protect nature and sustainable infrastructure. 📢July refill totals & a note post Broad Hinton Farmers' Market📢

Thank you for having me again at the Broad Hinton Farmers Market today . I always enjoy coming. I met some lovely people. Some of you have already swopped a selection of your toiletries/personal care items & home/kitchen wares for the more sustainable eco options that I have available 🌿 And some of you switched with me today 👏 Even if you just switch one thing it will make a difference 🌍 & it will make you feel great 😁! However that said I'd still love to get more of you interested in the Zero Waste Refills that I stock too. Today at the Farmers' Market I sold 1 Zero Waste refill & last Broad Hinton Farmers' Market none🥲. I stock everything you could need to clean your house/business in the form of 13 cleaning products none of which involve single use plastic, they are all biodegradable & are naturally derived. Better for both you & the environment. I also stock Zero Waste refills of Hand Soap, Shower Gel/Bubble Bath, Organic Shampoo & Organic Conditioner. Again none of these involve single use plastic, they are all biodegradable & naturally derived too. The liquid Zero Waste refills are all made by the magnificent SESI ( Sesi Detergent Refill ) a social enterprise whose refill campaign has been pioneering social and environmental inclusion in Oxford since 2006. Their products are also Vegan & Cruelty Free. Why not give a Zero Waste Refill a go next time, there's no minimum purchase, the price is calculated by the weight so you can always try a part bottle or ask me for a free sample. 🌟Last month refills totalled 54 🌟with all my pop ups & home visits, that's not too bad as I was on holiday for over a week of it😅 The total refills in 2026 is 590 upto end July. 🌟🌟Overall since I started in January 2024 a whopping 2316 containers have been refilled 😍(& that's not including Upcircle Skincare & Haircare products!)🌟🌟. Imagine a tower of bottles nearly 700 metres tall, more than the height of the Shard & Eiffel Tower standing on top of each other. Thats how many we've refilled together so far🥳. I'm so grateful for your support🙏 & together lets continue to aim higher⬆️!
