London has taken a big step toward cleaner river travel with the Orbit Clipper, the UK’s first fully electric passenger ferry. Although full service won’t begin until spring 2026, the vessel is already operating limited crossings between Rotherhithe and Canary Wharf as it gradually replaces the current diesel ferry. Built by Wight Shipyard Company with government and Innovate UK support, it carries up to 150 passengers and 100 bikes, offering a quieter, zero-emissions alternative for Thames commuters.

Early reactions have been positive, with city leaders praising the Clipper for making river travel more accessible and more sustainable. The bike-friendly design, frequent scheduling and smooth electric operation make it a notable upgrade for daily commuters. As Uber Boat by Thames Clippers aims for net-zero by 2050, the Orbit Clipper marks a meaningful milestone in London’s shift toward greener transport.

The Lexus LFA Concept brings the iconic name into the electric era, using the same lightweight aluminium platform as Toyota’s GR GT to create a low, sleek and driver-focused sports car. It keeps classic proportions and a minimalist cockpit designed for precision and control. Lexus highlights its rigid structure and aerodynamic shape, though full power and range details haven’t been released yet.

Some enthusiasts may miss the original LFA’s V10, and the switch to electric power may divide traditionalists. With no production timeline confirmed, there’s still uncertainty around how much of the concept will make it to the road. Still, it signals Lexus’ commitment to high-performance electrification and positions the LFA Concept as a future rival to other premium electric sports cars, standing out through heritage and design focus.

The Kia PV5 is a forward thinking electric van built on a flexible PBV platform offering modular design for a variety of users. The Cargo version provides over 4400 litres of space a low step in and a 71.2 kWh battery with fast charging in around 30 minutes. It also supports Vehicle to Load so it can power tools on site making it ideal for tradespeople and mobile businesses.

The Passenger version seats five to seven people and delivers a WLTP range of 256 miles while the chassis cab variant can carry up to 1005 kg. On the downside the modular design may feel less traditional and the long range battery could be costly. It is aimed at business users who need versatility and smart technology and competes with vans like the Volkswagen ID Buzz Cargo while standing out for its adaptability and software driven fleet management.

The Fiat Grande Panda Electric is a practical and charming small EV that focuses on ease of use and value. Its upright shape gives it a roomy feel and the built in spiral charging cable is a clever touch that makes daily charging simpler. The 199 mile range is strong for its size and the interior tech with its clear touchscreen and phone integration makes it feel modern without being complicated. It stands out through its playful design and sensible running costs which will appeal to buyers who want an affordable and characterful city car.

It is not without drawbacks as the modest motor means slow acceleration and the rear seats feel tight because of the battery layout. Cold weather efficiency also drops more than some rivals. Even so it sits comfortably among cars like the Citroen e C3 and the Renault 5 and will suit new EV owners or households wanting a small second car that is easy to live with. Fiat’s use of an LFP battery is an interesting choice since it should improve long term durability which helps make the Grande Panda Electric a dependable option for everyday driving.
