We're looking for an experienced Senior Accountant / Client Manager to join our team here in Paignton.

But rather than give you the usual recruitment spiel, here's what we're actually looking for...

Someone who knows their stuff, is good with people and can be trusted to get on with the job.

You might be ACA, ACCA or AAT qualified. You might have built up years of experience working in practice without collecting a string of letters after your name.

Either is absolutely fine with us.

What matters more is that you're confident preparing and reviewing accounts, understand tax and VAT, can manage your own clients and deadlines and — importantly — can have a normal conversation with a business owner without making everything sound unnecessarily complicated.

You'll be working closely with Amy and the rest of our accounts team, looking after your own portfolio of clients and getting involved in everything from year-end accounts and tax returns to management accounts, forecasting and advisory work.

And as Twigger continues to grow, there's plenty of opportunity for the role to grow with it.

💷 £32,000–£40,000 depending on experience

💡 BUSINESS OWNERS — WHAT'S THE ONE THING YOU WISH YOU'D KNOWN OR DID SOONER?

Running a business teaches you plenty of lessons... usually about five minutes after you really needed to know them. 😂

The Torbay Literary Festival is on this week (10th–15th August) at The Palace Theatre in Paignton — and it's a proper lineup. Christopher Biggins, Georgia Toffolo, Paul Burrell, Merlin Holland (Oscar Wilde's grandson, no less) and loads more.

It's the brainchild of friend, local mediator, writer and all-round Torbay champion Ben Tisdall He's been putting the graft in to bring this to the Bay in 2026, and it's exactly the kind of event that puts Torbay on the map for the right reasons.

It's also supporting a great local cause — Life Chance Trust, who help young people aged 16-25 build a better future.

☕ Monday motivation, Twigger style...

We know Mondays can feel like a lot when you're running your own business — the inbox that's somehow fuller than when you left it Friday, the invoices waiting to go out, the to-do list that quietly grew over the weekend without your permission.

So here's your reminder: you don't have to have it all figured out today. You don't need to clear the whole list, answer every email, or sort out that "I'll deal with it eventually" pile in one go.

Just pick one thing and get it done. That's it. That's the win.

☕ Midweek question for you...

What's one piece of business software or app you genuinely couldn't run or build your business without?

For us, it's a two-hander: Xero for the day-to-day bookkeeping, and TaxCalc for prepping and filing everything formally with HMRC. Between the two, they cover us from the first invoice right through to submission.

But we want to know what's on your list. Could be an invoicing app, a scheduling tool, your accounting software, even something totally unexpected.
