Another section finished at Lowther Castle. Great to see the scaffolding down on this completed part. We've rebuilt the whole top half of this section, putting the window openings back in, using some new stone including window heads, merlons and coursed ashlar, mixed in with some original stone where possible and returning the castle its former symmetrical self. Also repointed and patched up all the orher original parts in this section. The work continues!

A key part of the third episode focused on developments at Lowther Castle, just south of Penrith, where stonemason James Lightfoot is responsible for preserving the history of the site.

Lovely looking rustic wall we've built in the heart of the lake district at Thornythwaite Cottages. With a built in stone seat and steps, all built from a mixture of cobbles, sandstone, lime stone and slate.
