🇺🇸 🇫🇷 California vs. France - one of wine’s most enduring conversations, and one that changed forever in 1976 at the Judgement of Paris.
In a now-legendary blind tasting, a 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon from Stag's Leap Wine Cellars stunned the world, outperforming some of Bordeaux’s most revered estates. Produced in just the winery’s sixth year, the “SLV” became an icon overnight, cementing Napa Valley’s place on the global stage.

Now, nearly 50 years on, this month marks the anniversary of that defining moment in modern wine history, and our May auction offers a rare chance to secure a bottle of the 1973 Stag’s Leap for yourself. ✨

It’s also the perfect opportunity to explore the evolution of this transatlantic dialogue. From benchmark Napa Cabernets to some of Bordeaux’s most enduring names, this month’s auction brings together exceptional examples from both sides, inviting you to compare, collect, and decide where your allegiance lies. 🍷

✨ A rare opportunity to secure one of Napa Valley’s most sought-after wines.

Founded in 1984 by Bill Harlan, Harlan Estate was built on an ambitious vision: to create a true “First Growth” of California. Set across 240 acres in Oakville’s western hills with only a fraction planted to vine, the estate’s meticulous approach, low yields, and volcanic soils produce wines of remarkable structure, balance, and longevity. 🍷

With production at just ~2,000 cases annually and access limited to an exclusive mailing list (with a years-long wait), Harlan Estate remains one of the most elusive names in fine wine.

That’s what makes this bottle so special. We rarely see Harlan Estate at auction - this is the first 2004 vintage we’ve ever offered, and the first time we’ve had a bottle of their flagship label since 2020. 👀

A rare expression from one of Bordeaux’s most iconic estates 🍇

Château d’Yquem “Y” Lur Saluces 1985 is anything but typical. Produced only in select vintages, this dry white sits apart from the château’s famed sweet wines, crafted from grapes barely touched by noble rot, offering a completely different perspective on Yquem’s mastery.

The 1985 vintage tells its own story: a year marked by drought, with an exceptionally late harvest stretching into December. The result is a wine of remarkable balance and complexity. An unusual and highly collectible bottle for those looking to experience Yquem from a different angle.
