🎄 Before the busy rush tomorrow. We would just like to take the opportunity to thank all of our wonderful customers this year and to wish you all a Merry Christmas. 🎄

For those of you don’t know much about, “Willie the plumber”, it was in fact the first trade I learned at 16 before working for many years in the fast paced oil industry. After the recent downturn and spending time as a contractor I decided I wanted to spend more time close to home, less time on the road travelling to the office for 7am and give up the lengthy stays offshore. And I can safely say it was one of the best decisions I’ve made.

Gail and I moved to Longside in July and we have felt so welcomed and supported by the locals in both the village and the surrounding areas and for that we are truly grateful. I’ve been so busy and appreciate all the recommendations online. I wish I could get to you all ASAP but I’m beginning to learn that this isn’t always possible and with that in mind I really appreciate your patience.

I’d like to say I work less than I did in oil & gas but I can’t say that’s 100% true, however being able to help people and get to know my locals has been really enjoyable. Getting home for my lunch is an added bonus(!)

🔧 Before & After 🔧

Called out last week to a central heating system with cold spots all over the radiators. From the 2 pictures you can see the outcome.

The shiny piece of metal is a strong magnet used during the central heating flushing process. Clean then after a 20 minute cycle! This one took 2 days to take to a "clear water" point but the customer is absolutely amazed at the outcome. House is now warm within 20 to 30 minutes of the boiler starting.

It’s so important to keep on top of your boiler servicing especially at this time of year to avoid breakdowns & issues in winter!

🔧 I was recently called out to a heating system in Eden Drive, Peterhead where 5 of the 12 radiators were not heating. 🥶

📸 From the pictures you can see that the pipes were choked with scale. There seems to have never been any type of inhibitor in the system.

I spent 2 days at the property flushing the system, which cleared most of it, however a couple of the pipes under the floor had to be totally replaced as the scale had turned solid and nothing was going to move it. 🔧

Whilst I was there, I converted the system from the little tank in the loft to a pressurised unvented system... making it far more efficient for the years ahead. ✔️

🧲 If you do not have a Magnetic Filter fitted in your heating system its more than likely that your system will be gathering Scale & Magnetite which will ultimately clog the system up leading to breakdowns. By getting your system professionally Fernox Power Flushed and a Magnet filter fitted to the system, you can help prolong the lifetime of your system & avoid future breakdowns. 👌🏻

To add, most people don't realise if their system is not fitted with a magnetic filter your warranty could be void. 💸

✨ Is your heating system clean & efficient? ✨

🔧 I was recently called out to a central heating system where radiators were only warm in patches.

Upon inspection, it was found that my customers system was full of black sludge. 😕

💦 Power Flushing was the answer for this system, as well as the installation of Magnetic Filters for a cleaner system going forward, both completed at very competitive prices.

If you haven’t heard of Power Flushing, It’s essentially a deep clean for your heating system. It will increase the efficiency of your system as well as extending the life of your boiler, pump, radiators, valves etc. It’s quite a new service provided and an impressive piece of kit in action. 👌🏻

It can be done at any point, I’d recommend every five years, or if you’ve recently purchased a property, it’s worth doing to know your off to a good clean start in your new home. ✅

🔧 Recent call out for a boiler which kept locking-out and needed resetting every day. You will see from top images the soft hose had kinked, causing the issue. Bottom images show the replaced hose using OFTEC specified material to fix the problem 👍🏻

It’s so important to have your boiler regularly serviced (once per year is advised) to avoid any out of the blue issues! ❄️

Following the latest government advice, I just wanted to share the current procedures for carrying out work & maintenance in properties at the moment.

Firstly, all requests for work will be risk assessed and if we can keep a safe/healthy distance I am willing to help 👍

Please keep an eye out for a call just before I arrive at your property. Upon arrival and before leaving following the work, if you have hand washing facilities available, please let me use these 🙂 If not, I’ll have hand sanitizer with me at all times.

A safe distance from any household occupants will be in place at all time, and please ensure there is good ventilation in the area I will be working in (open windows/doors if possible).

Please note if someone in your household is shielding, work will not be carried out unless your issue is direct to the safety of the household.
