’Twas the night before Bidmas, and all through the team,
Not a writer was sleeping, not even to dream.
The bids were compiled with meticulous care,
In hopes that the contract soon would be theirs.
As the client was nestled all snug in their chair,
While visions of contract wins danced in the air.
Bid Managers sat, with coffee in hand,
Settling down for a long bid-writing stand.
The specs on the portal, oh, they gleamed so bright,
Clear, concise details—a rare bidder's delight!
When what, to overworked eyes should appear,
But a last-minute addendum to trigger such fear.
With a sneaky new clause, so tricky and sly,
Bid Managers know in a moment just how to reply.
More rapid than Santa, the panic it came,
The Bid Manager called out by name:
“Now Writer! Now Expert! Now Pricing and Proof!
On Graphics! On Compliance! Let’s hit the roof!
Like printers that jam when a deadline is nigh,
Or Wi-Fi that cuts out, making bidders all cry,
So up to the portal the team they all flew,
With a file full of hopes—and sanity too.
And then, in a twinkling, with a loud ping,
Confirmation of submission: the bid was now in!
As Bid People breathe a sigh of relief,
Bidmas came to offer more grief.
Deadline and clarifications arriving in droves,
And their list of new questions just steadily grows.
A bundle of queries flung on the desk,
And timelines, of course, nothing but grotesque.
With a twitch of an eye and a rub of the head,
Digging through spreadsheets with feelings of dread.
Gathering a response in the quickest of time,
Meeting timescales, never missing a deadline.
It's time to relax, now the bids are all in,
Though deadlines may bite and requirements sting.
Bid heroes and colleagues from across the land,
We salute you, we feel you, we understand.
We hope you get a chance to be merry and bright,
“Happy bidding to all, and to all, sleep well tonight!”
Merry Christmas from us all at Ocean City Bids
