The Devon Coffee Company Organic Speciality Coffee | Roasted in Devon | Est. 2011 Our Beginnings

Our roots stem from a small co-operative of cafes.

The founder’s café was part of this co-operative, their aim initially was to simply achieve economies of scale when purchasing catering goods but as their education grew so did their interest in coffee and a drive for the perfect espresso. As the co-operative grew its members required full support - The Devon Coffee Company was born. Our Ethos

From our experience & growth from the café industry we have a full understanding of what a business owner needs. There are four variables in the production of a coffee based drink, we have built our company around supporting businesses in each of these variables; Coffee, Grinding, Extraction & Drink preparation. Our Future

We continue to learn, change & share best practice with our customers & peers. We are currently in the process of restructuring our operation so our roasting will be split into 2 locations. From Plymouth we will roast & pack bespoke specialty coffee for trade customers & home brew coffee for retail purchase. From Bristol we will roast our most popular selling blends – this will guarantee that our customers will continue to receive high quality, ethically sourced coffee, freshly roasted in the Westcountry. We will also be introducing a Barista training room to our base in Plymouth Guildhall to help customers learn without distractions from their business. When we started back in 2011, there was no investment or grand sales and marketing plan – got a logo designed and went for it.

Since then, we’ve slowly grown Devon Coffee through word of mouth, reputation and the support of a loyal customer base.

15 years on, we’re still an independent, family-owned business, roasting coffee here in Plymouth with a small team who care a lot about what they do.

The coffee has changed quite a bit along the way. We’ve learnt more, pushed the quality and made the move to roasting entirely organic speciality coffee.

So we thought it was probably time for a bit of a spruce up – something that feels a little more like the Devon Coffee we are today.

15 years of Devon Coffee Co. and we’re celebrating with a fresh new look 👀

We’ve come a long way since we started back in 2011. The coffee and the business have evolved so we felt our branding needed an update too.

So here it is: our new look, a brand new website, new bags, and more to follow in the coming months.

What hasn’t changed? Same team, same delicious coffee, still roasted here in Devon.

A huge thank you to everyone who’s bought our coffee, worked with us or cheered us on along the way.

We’re really looking forward to this next chapter.

We’re proud to share the impact of our latest donation through our 1% for the planet pledge. Last month, we donated £2,750 to the brilliant team at the Devon Environment Foundation and thanks to their Spring Match Fund, that donation was doubled to £5,500.

That funding is now supporting grassroots nature restoration projects right here in Devon, helping protect wildlife, restore habitats and care for the landscapes that make this county so special.
