The Advent calendar originated in 19th-century Germany as a way for Protestant families to mark the days of Advent - the period of spiritual preparation leading up to Christmas.

Early versions were simple: families might draw chalk lines on doors, light a candle each evening, or hang a new devotional image daily. By the early 1900s, German publishers began producing printed calendars with 24 numbered doors or windows, each hiding a Bible verse or small picture.

After World War II, the tradition spread internationally, and by the mid-20th century, calendars featuring chocolates, toys, or small gifts became popular.

Today, Advent calendars come in countless creative forms - from digital versions to luxury gift sets - but all preserve the original idea of building anticipation and reflection in the days before Christmas.

A completed recent escape of water claim!
Initially the insurance company were refusing to acknowledge that the leak from the upstairs bathroom had caused all this damage, and were refusing to recognise the claim.
After further investigation from the team at Concept Claim Solutions Torquay & Plymouth evidence was found to the contrary, proving the insurance company's initial assessment was incorrect. A fair deal in the policy holders favour was negotiated, and all the repairs and renovations were completed.
The policy holders property is successfully back to it pre loss condition!!

I had a leak In the basement!

I wasn’t sure what to do, or who to turn to.

I know that if I got in touch with my insurance company it would mean endless phone calls and possibly hours of waiting on hold to be put thought a human. On top of that I’m sure I would have had to send numerous emails.
I just don’t have the time.

So I left it for while unsure of what to do next and then when In the pub one night a person suggested I try Adam from Concept claim Solutions and OMG …

I’m so very glad I did!!

What a professional, amiable, trustworthy and helpful chap he was. He took the whole ordeal out of my hands and completely dealt with everything, all I had to do was sit back and relax until he got In touch.

Which I will say he did frequently, he kept me informed throughout and up to date with the progress of the claim, which resulted in a very satisfactory outcome indeed.

I truly couldn’t recommend his and Concept Claim Soutuons services highly enough.

Concept Building Solutions have helped me out of a very damp hole. When I returned from holiday to a flooded ground floor, back in February 2025, I knew that I would struggle to find local builders who wanted to take on the work. But on a recommendation, I spoke to Concept Building Solutions’ project manager, Adam, and realised that there was hope. The ground floor of my house has been transformed and neighbours have been in to admire. I found all the Concept team to be friendly and helpful people, especially Claire and Joe, the painting team, and Adam, the project manager. I’m very pleased it’s all over and everything looks so much smarter and more modern than it did before the flood - especially my lovely turquoise doors.
