We’re proud to be home to organisations that don’t just grow their own businesses, but strengthen the wider Devon economy too.

Our tenant, BIT Training, has just completed another round of intensive 12-week Skills for Life Bootcamps.

Their latest cohort is now industry-certified in IT Support, Microsoft Cloud and Project Management, with skills covering cloud services, security essentials, planning, budgeting and AI-driven decision-making.

Many of these candidates are career changers who’ve committed to building long-term careers in tech. They bring valuable experience from roles in retail, logistics, operations and customer service, alongside their newly developed technical skills.

Devon businesses can meet and hire these candidates with no recruitment fees, making it a low-risk way to bring motivated early-career talent into your team.

If you’re looking to strengthen your workforce, contact BIT Training on 01752 724000 or email [email protected] to find out more.

We are proud to be working in partnership with Salmon Marine on an Innovate UK-funded project to develop a pioneering stability system for unmanned craft, designed for both defence and commercial applications.

Project MADFISH has seen the testing of a prototype within a scale model Uncrewed Surface Vehicle (USV), using the College’s purpose-built wave tank. This innovative work is addressing a significant and growing industry need for enhanced stability and shock protection in USVs - a critical factor in improving performance, resilience and operational capability in challenging marine environments.

The significance of this project was underlined during a visit from Fred Thomas MP who saw the technology in action and recognised its potential impact for the UK’s marine innovation and defence sectors. He commented: "I think the collaboration on Project MADFISH between City College Plymouth and industry is a great example of how we can further develop our abilities together."

With strong regional and national interest in its development, Salmon Marine is now seeking further funding to progress the next phase of the project.
