In the workshop over the weekend a Rather lovely Suhr guitar.
The guitar required a setup and new set of Bare Knuckle pickups fitting. A total rewire was required with a new 5 way Oak Grigsby switch to replace the super multi switch original fitted. Careful attention was paid to correctly phase the pickups with the original single coil. The coil taps were also taken into consideration for the relationship of the humbucker coil position which will remain active in split operation.

Fault finding on a 50s Fender Princeton. The amp was shutting down with gross distortion after warming up. I suspected the inter-stage coupling caps passing DC ( Leaking) to the next amplifier stages. Here is a good old school test.

P.S I have no other real use for a hairdrier!

A very nice 80s music man head. The main Ht filter had seen better days!
These amps produce 75Watts with just two 6L6. The Ht is over 700 volts and uses a voltage doubler circuit to achieve this very high Ht Most amps are around 450 -500. The amp also uses a grounded grid output stage. This is not the conventional grid driven type of push pull configuration found in Marshall, Fender, Vox etc. Here the drive is fed into the cathodes via a pair of transistors.
