The 3rg training programme has been developed to address the latest SIA learning outcomes for Close Protection licensing.

As well as the core competencies, 3rg provides relevant training for both the HECPO* (Hostile Environments Close Protection Operative) and Executive Protection roles.

What is a HECPO? Typically, a student with formal fi****ms training, e.g., former military personnel who has passed an approved CP course and is SIA licensed.

What if I don't have formal fi****ms training? A HET (Hostile Environment Training) certificate will be awarded to those who have attended the hostile environment training module.
*Note - those without formal fi****ms training will not partake in weapon handling assessments.
*Note - HECPO and HET is 3rg certification and not a qualification funded by ELCAS.

At 3rg, we believe that Surveillance Training is one of the most important modules within the training. This is why we insist on only surveillance qualified instructors to lead this valuable subject, delivering our Enhanced Surveillance Module.

Note: Candidates who do not already have a formal medical qualification (Level 3 RQF 3 Day First Aid at Work or Level 3 RQF
First Response in Emergency Care / First Person on Scene) will be required to take the FREC 3 course, which can be added to the Close Protection course at an additional charge.

3rg offer a Close Protection 'Fast Track' option for candidates who can demonstrate appropriate experience and expertise within the field. As per SIA guidance, this includes previous Close Protection Training within:

As per the full Close Protection course, Fast Track students will be assessed on and required to pass all 7 units as per SIA guidance.

CP Refresher Courses at 3rg

Level 2 Award for Close Protection Operatives in the Private Security Industry (Refresher)

Who needs to do the refresher training?
From 1 April 2026, you will need to take refresher training if you are renewing a close protection licence. Refresher training will need to completed every time you go to renew your licence (every 3 years).

Students are also required to update their first aid qualification prior to taking the refresher training- this must have at least a year (12 months) left on it in date as per SIA requirements:

Level 3 First Aid At Work (3 Days)
Level 3 First Response Emergency Care (5 Days)
Level 3 First Response Emergency Care Refresher (3 Days) -
*note certificate must be in date.

Your medical qualification MUST be a RQF (regulated qualification). Unregulated qualifications cannot be accepted as stated by the SIA.
