The Oldest Lolly Shop in South Australia!
Last week, we visited the historic town of Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills. This 19th Century town is packed with dozens of successful small businesses. We had the opportunity to ask Hahndorf Sweets owner, Jake Wilson, some questions about his business & how it became so successful!
“Hahndorf sweet is a family-owned business, its been in the family for 16 years and is the oldest lolly shop in South Australia. It’s very successful, and has done well for our family over the last 16 years. Running a small business is very interesting. There’s so much more that goes on behind closed doors that you wouldn’t expect. The actual processes of running a business are not so hard - it’s the glue that happens in the background that holds it all together is the biggest learning curve. There are a lot of small challenges that you wouldn’t think of which leave little time to expand. There is plenty of room for growth as the business itself is pretty antique in the way its run so we’re installing a new computer system and are looking to get involved in the social media world. Hahndorf is a great place to run a business.”
