New funding opportunities now open for VCSE organisations in Portsmouth!

Portsmouth City Council has approved a new Match Funding scheme and will be working in partnership with HIVE Portsmouth which will be administering the scheme. HIVE Portsmouth's Sustainability fund will sit alongside this new scheme to support VCSE groups in the city.

At a time when many organisations are facing rising costs, recruitment challenges and growing demand for services, this initiative is designed to offer practical, timely support.

There are two schemes available.

Match Funding Grant Scheme: up to £10,000 available
The Portsmouth City Council Match Funding Grant Scheme aims to boost the success of external funding bids. If your organisation is applying to a national funder, you can apply for up to 10% match funding (capped at £10,000) to strengthen your bid and demonstrate local backing.

HIVE Portsmouth Sustainability Fund: up to £5,000 available
Alongside the match funding, HIVE Portsmouth is offering grants of up to £5,000 to help organisations bridge short-term funding gaps while waiting on the outcome of external bids. This fund is here to keep essential services going during uncertain times and help the sector move from crisis response to long-term sustainability.

Who can apply?

To be eligible, you’ll need to:

• Be a registered charity, social enterprise, or not-for-profit community group
• Be based in Portsmouth or delivering work here
• Demonstrate how your work meets local need and aligns with city priorities
• Show how funding will improve sustainability and strengthen your funding position

Applications are now open and will be assessed on a rolling basis. Our team at HIVE Portsmouth is here to support you throughout the application process. Once the application has been made and reviewed a panel from Portsmouth City council will make the decision on the match funding grant awards . Decisions regarding the sustainability fund will be made by HIVE Portsmouth.

We’re proud to be supporting Neurodiversity Celebration Week 2025! 🌟

Neurodiversity Celebration Week is a worldwide initiative that challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences.

We meet many neurodiverse entrepreneurs through our network and often see first-hand how neurodiversity can be both a strength and a challenge when running a business.

We'd love to hear about the neurodivergent traits you feel help you succeed at what you do. Tell us in the comments below.
