👟 One week in, and we’ve already made it to Western Sahara!

We’re just one week into our September Step Challenge and the numbers are already pretty incredible.

Together, colleagues from across our wider family of businesses have clocked up:
👟 3,761,811 steps
🌍 1,881 miles
📍 62.7% of the way from Portsmouth to Koutaya, Guinea

Put that distance on the map and we’ve already made it through Spain, across Morocco and into Western Sahara!

There’s plenty of friendly rivalry developing between our 12 teams too, with everyone doing their bit to keep those step counts climbing.

The challenge is inspired by the incredible work of URBOND Child Education in Koutaya, giving us an extra reason to keep those steps coming.

At this rate, simply reaching Koutaya by the end of September might not be ambitious enough…

After joining us for work experience last year through URBOND Youth Development Programme , Suleyman enjoyed his time at Circuit Supply so much that he decided to come back for another three days with us this summer!

This time around, he spent time across Accounts, Product Development, Stores and Sales, getting an even broader insight into the different areas of the business and how they all work together.

It’s been brilliant to welcome Suleyman back and see him getting stuck in once again, building on what he learnt last year and gaining even more experience across the business.

We’re proud to support URBOND’s work experience programme, helping give young people the opportunity to experience different roles, develop new skills and get a taste of life in the workplace.

We hope you’ve enjoyed round two as much as we’ve enjoyed having you back, Suleyman. Perhaps we’ll see you again next year!

Every step counts 👟

This September, the Circuit Supply team will be joining colleagues from across our wider family of businesses for a month-long Step Challenge, with one shared goal: to collectively walk the distance from Portsmouth to Koutaya, Guinea.

Koutaya is home to a school built by URBOND Child Education giving local children access to education and providing an important resource for the wider community.

We’ve recently become involved in the next stage of the project, sourcing the solar panels and supplying electrician tool kits that will help the local team install and maintain a new solar system at the school.

While those materials make their way to Guinea, we’ll be doing some travelling of our own! Throughout September, we’ll be counting our steps, with a bit of friendly competition along the way, to see if together we can cover the distance from Portsmouth to Koutaya.

Whether it’s walking around the warehouse, taking the stairs, walking the dog or heading out for a lunchtime stroll, every step will take us a little closer.

☀️ Helping power a brighter future in Koutaya

We’re proud to be supporting URBOND Child Education with an incredible project that will bring solar power to a school in Koutaya, Guinea.

The school, built through the support of Urbond Child Education, its partners and volunteers, opened its doors to children last year. But with no access to mains electricity, reliable power remains a major challenge.

That’s where we’ve been able to help.

Circuit Supply sourced the solar panels for the project and has also supplied electrical tool kits that will be used by the local team to help install and maintain the new solar system for years to come.

Everything needed for the installation has now been loaded into a container and has begun its journey to Guinea.

Once installed, the solar system will provide clean, dependable electricity for the school, while also helping it serve the wider community beyond school hours.

We’re proud to play our part and wish the container a smooth journey to Koutaya. We can’t wait to see the project come to life. ☀️🇬🇳

Shaun’s connection with Circuit Supply spans more than 20 years. He first joined the business when it was only around 18 months old as Warehouse Supervisor, spending over 16 years helping to shape its early growth. After a short period working for one of our customers managing their stores, he is now back with the Circuit Supply team.

Shaun holds a dual role as Sales Account Manager and Waterlooville Trade Counter Manager. Whether supporting customers on their accounts or helping electricians at the trade counter, he’s known for his practical approach and willingness to get stuck in. He enjoys the challenge of finding solutions and takes pride in helping customers keep their jobs running smoothly.

Over the years, Shaun has built strong relationships with both customers and colleagues, and it's the friendly atmosphere and variety of the role that have kept him at Circuit Supply for so long. Outside of work, he enjoys reading, going to the cinema and spending time with family and friends.

With the Portsmouth trade counter now firmly established, Shaun is proud to see how the business has continued to grow. After more than 20 years connected with Circuit Supply, he enjoys continuing to support customers across both the Waterlooville and Portsmouth sites and looks forward to being part of the company's future.

Small changes can make a big difference.
