We’ve been helping a few clients with this recently and it’s surprising how many people still aren’t clear on it…

Making Tax Digital is coming… but most people aren’t sure what it actually means.

If you’re self-employed or a landlord, this matters.

From April 2026, many will need to:

Keep digital records
Submit updates to HMRC every quarter
File a final declaration each year

That’s 5 submissions instead of 1.

For some, it’ll be straightforward.
For many, it won’t.

We’re already seeing people unsure where to start, what software to use, or whether it even applies to them.

So rather than overcomplicate it, we’ve put together:

A simple readiness check
A plain-English guide
And support if you need it

No jargon. No pressure. Just helping you get clear before it becomes urgent.

If you’re not sure where you stand, feel free to comment below or drop me a message and I’ll point you in the right direction.

We’re also starting to share more on the WeAreMTD page for anyone who wants to keep up to speed.

Check if you need to comply:

Most business owners don’t lose sleep over the work itself.
They lose sleep over the uncertainty — the dispute that keeps replaying in their head, the email they’re avoiding, the conversation they’re scared will make things worse.

If it’s waking you at 3am…
If it’s draining your focus during the day…
If you can’t switch off…

…it’s already bigger than the issue itself.
Not because the problem has grown,
but because the silence has.

Here’s what most people don’t realise:

You don’t have to wait for things to get legal.
You can resolve a dispute long before it becomes a battle.

A calm, structured conversation — guided by someone neutral — can cut through months of stress and bring clarity back fast.

If you’re losing sleep over a dispute, that’s your signal.

Not to panic.
Not to escalate.
Just to talk.

Disputes grow in silence.
Resolution begins with one conversation.

Two business partners were ready to sue each other over a 5% equity disagreement.

They hadn't spoken in 3 months.

Legal fees were already at £15,000.

Then they called us.

Within 2 sessions, we helped them:

• See each other's perspectives
• Find a creative solution
• Save their 10-year partnership

They walked away with a stronger agreement and saved £50,000 in legal costs.

Most disputes don't need courtrooms.
They just need someone who can help people listen.

When did you last avoid a costly business conflict?

Two small businesses had been working together for years.

Trust was good.
Work was steady.
Invoices were paid on time.

Then one month, an invoice came in higher than usual.

No conversation.
No explanation.
Just a bigger number.

The client felt taken advantage of.
The supplier felt they were simply billing fairly.

Both sides got defensive.
Emails became shorter.
Then colder.
Then legal-sounding.

A £1,800 disagreement
turned into
three months of silence,
a solicitor’s letter,
two cancelled projects,
and £40,000 in lost future revenue.

And here’s the part that hurts:

When the two owners eventually spoke — properly, face-to-face —
the issue was a misunderstanding about extra hours spent on a rush job.

A five-minute explanation.
A five-minute apology.
A five-minute agreement to split the difference.

£1,800 never needed to become a crisis.
The silence did the damage — not the dispute.

Most business relationships don’t break because of the problem.
They break because nobody knows how to talk about it.

That’s where mediation comes in.

Not to prove who was right.
Not to assign blame.
But to keep communication alive before the relationship dies.

If something small is starting to feel big —
talk now, not later.

Disputes don’t fix themselves.
But they don’t have to become battles either.

I didn’t expect it to affect me like this.

I can normally handle pressure.
I can handle decisions.
I can handle hard conversations.

But this was different.

It wasn’t the dispute itself that got to me.
It was the uncertainty.

The waiting.
The silence.
The endless replaying of what was said — and what I should have said.

It started in my emails.
Then it moved into my thoughts.
Then into my sleep.
Then into my chest.

I found myself bracing for every notification.
Not because I was afraid of the person —
but because I didn’t know how to fix the situation without making it worse.

And that’s when I realised:

It’s not the disagreement that causes the stress.
It’s feeling like I have to handle it alone.

When I finally reached out for help — someone neutral —
the entire tone changed.

The tension dropped.
The conversation opened.
The fear eased.
And clarity came back.

Not because someone “won.”
But because we actually talked — properly.

If you’re waking up thinking about it, your body is telling you something.

The dispute isn’t the weight.
The silence is.

Talk sooner.
Not later.

Disputes steal sleep.
We help you get it back.

Heart racing.
Mind spinning.
No sleep.
Every email feels like a threat.

It’s not because you’re weak.
It’s because conflict sends the nervous system into survival mode.

And when you’re in survival mode, clear decision-making becomes almost impossible.

That’s why so many disputes spiral — not from the problem itself, but from the stress response around it.

The way through isn’t to fight harder.
Or to run from it.

It’s to step out of survival mode and into a structured conversation where both sides can breathe again.

Mediation doesn’t just resolve disputes.
It restores clarity.

And clarity is where good decisions — and peace of mind — live.

31/10/2025

But here’s the thing:

You can be sitting at your desk, in a meeting, or trying to sleep at night — and your body still reacts as if you’re under attack.

That’s what a business dispute does.

Your heart rate goes up.
Your breathing tightens.
Your mind starts racing.
Your outlook narrows to one thought: “How do I make this stop?”

And suddenly…
You’re not thinking clearly.
You’re reacting.
Defending.
Avoiding.
Overthinking every possible outcome.

It’s exhausting.

And the longer the dispute drags on, the more your body stays in that high-alert state — draining your energy, clarity and confidence.

But here’s the truth most business owners don’t get told:

You don’t need to keep fighting the other person.
You need help calming the situation.

A structured conversation — guided by someone neutral — isn’t about giving in.
It’s about stepping out of survival mode.
So you can think clearly again.
So the business can move forward.
So you can breathe.

If your body is telling you you’re under threat — it’s time to listen.

Not to panic.
Not to fight.
But to talk.

Because disputes don’t just cost money.
They cost peace.

And you deserve both the business and the peace.

He’d fallen out with a long-term client.
A disagreement over delivery dates.
Not huge — but neither side would back down.

And every night, around 3am, his mind would start:

Will they take legal action?
Will this affect my reputation?
Should I reply to that last email?
What if I say the wrong thing?

He wasn’t arguing anymore.
He wasn’t even discussing it.
He was just carrying it.

And that’s the part we don’t talk about:

The dispute becomes emotional long before it becomes legal.

The stress.
The anxiety.
The dread of the next email.
The constant replaying of conversations in your head.

It wasn’t the disagreement that was exhausting him.
It was the silence.
The uncertainty.
The waiting.

When we brought both sides together in mediation, neither wanted a fight.
Both just wanted to be heard, understood, and to move on.

Two hours.
A calm conversation.
Issue resolved.
Sleep returned.

Most disputes don’t need a courtroom.
They need a conversation.

If the stress is kicking in —
that’s the signal to talk sooner, not later.
