One of the best things about working in Health and Safety is when it is cold and wet I can hide in the office but when the sun is out I get to play out.

This is me at a recent arranging Fire Stations and Assembly Points at a local holiday park in the Fylde. 🧯❤️‍🔥👷

Something I’ve noticed doing accreditations…

Having someone on hand for your Health & Safety can make the whole process so much easier.

Competent person support is often part of the accreditation requirements anyway, but the nice thing is, if you’ve already got that support in place, you’ll probably have a lot of the evidence you need too.

Policies.
Risk assessments.
RAMS.
Training records.
Inspection records.

All those lovely little bits of paperwork! 😂

It still needs checking before it goes off to an assessor, but if you’re actually using your safety system day to day, you’re already halfway there.

Whether that’s your own in house safety person or someone like Marksafety supporting you, having that ongoing support can make getting your accreditation so much easier.

And believe me, anything that makes an accreditation less of a headache is a good thing! 😂

Face Fit Testing in 90 seconds, let's go!

Remember, this is a HSE focus at the moment. Don't get caught out during an enforcement visit.

If your Risk Assessment identifies that masks are needed, then you legally require Face Fit Testing.

Nope. Not today… 😂

There are definitely days when I feel less like an accreditation advisor and more like a high school teacher.

I’ll get evidence back to upload for an accreditation and my reply clients is…

“Sorry, there’s no signature on this.”
“Can you add the date please?”
“Your RAMS don’t say what job they’re for.” 😂

And I can almost see them rolling their eyes.....

It probably feels a bit like being told by your mum that your homework needs doing again.

But honestly, this is the bit you pay me for.

You send me your documents, I check them and if something is missing or isn’t quite right, I’ll tell you.

Because I’d much rather be the person who says “nope, do this again” while it’s still with me.

Than you submit it, the assessor kicks it back and you’re left thinking what am I paying Samantha for! 😂

So yes, I might occasionally feel like the school teacher.

But I promise I’m only nagging because I want you to get that accreditation over the line. ❤️

Pay for the person, not the package.

✅ Choose the consultant you trust the one with experience in your sector, the one who understands your pain points and comes up with solutions that make sense to you.

❌ Don't be drawn in by free trials that cost in the long run, software that leads nowhere or bogus claims and scaremongering games.

The smooth talker can just keep walking.

Has the original newsletter had its day?

We have all been in the position where we open our inbox to be met with newsletters and general generic comms from somewhere we subscribe to or somewhere we bought toenail clippers from in 2015 😆.

This got us thinking about our communications to our monthly subscription clients and changed what we send to this day.

We try to keep the information valuable to the end recipient. It's there to save them time, effort or frustration and keep them updated on information that will matter to them.
