🧯 A tidy outdoor extinguisher installation completed today.

We installed two powder extinguishers inside weatherproof fire extinguisher cabinets, keeping them protected from the elements, clearly visible and easy to access.

Outdoor fire safety equipment still needs to be properly positioned, protected and looked after — especially on larger sites where it can be exposed to the weather all year round.

Need extinguishers supplied, installed or serviced at your premises?

Get in touch with 1st Call Fire Protection Services and we’ll help make sure your equipment is where it needs to be and ready when required.

Check the label: when was your fire extinguisher last serviced? 🧯

Fire extinguishers can easily be overlooked, especially when they sit in the same place every day. But if the service label is out of date, missing, damaged or unreadable, it’s time to get it checked.

A quick look at the label could show whether your extinguishers are overdue for servicing and help you keep your workplace fire safety records up to date.

Not sure if your extinguishers are due? Contact 1st Call Fire today and we’ll help arrange a service check for your business.

Is there a yellow fault light showing on your fire alarm panel? ⚠️

A fault light should never be silenced and forgotten. It could be warning you about an issue with a detector or call point circuit, sounder circuit, mains supply, standby batteries, communication equipment, or another connected part of the system.

Silencing the internal buzzer does not repair the fault — it only stops the noise.

Make sure the fault is recorded in your fire alarm logbook and arrange for it to be investigated by a competent fire alarm engineer.

Seen a fault light on your panel? Contact 1st Call Fire today and we’ll help get it checked.

What should be written in your fire alarm logbook? 📘

Your fire alarm logbook is there to show that your system is being managed properly between service visits. It should record weekly tests, the call point used, alarm activations, false alarms, faults, fire drills, engineer visits, repairs and any periods where part of the system has been disabled.

Keeping clear records helps identify repeated issues early and gives your maintenance engineer the information they need when attending site.

Need a replacement logbook or help getting yours set up correctly? Contact 1st Call Fire today and we’ll help keep your fire safety records in order.

Your weekly fire alarm test is important — but it does not replace professional servicing. 🔔

A weekly test helps confirm that your alarm can activate, but a proper service goes much further. Professional servicing checks the condition and operation of key parts of the system, including the control panel, detectors, call points, sounders, batteries, fault monitoring and any connected equipment.

Fire alarm systems should normally be inspected and serviced at approximately six-month intervals by a competent person.

Not sure when your next service is due? Get in touch with 1st Call Fire and we’ll help you stay on top of your fire safety responsibilities.

🚨 Fire Alarm Fault – The Grasshoppers 🚨

Called out to a system showing multiple missing devices and open circuit faults across the loop.

After fault finding and testing, we traced the issue to a break between devices on the loop.
Section isolated, repaired, and devices restored — system now fully back online and operating as it should ✅

Another one where proper diagnostics saves time, money, and unnecessary replacements.
