Think all VW Golfs are the same? Think again! 🇯🇵🚗
​We were called out for an "All Keys Lost" job on this MQB system Volkswagen Golf. I was already prepping to pull the TCU connector to read the ECU, TCU, and cluster data when the customer suddenly found his original key! 🔑😅
​You'd think having a working key makes it simple, right? Not on this one!
​1️⃣ Locked Johnson Controls Dash: Even with a working key, OBD wouldn't give up the immobiliser data. The cluster had to come completely out so we could read the MCU and EEPROM directly on the bench.
2️⃣ The Japanese Import Surprise: Because this was a grey import from Japan (which wasn't mentioned beforehand!), standard UK key frequencies wouldn't work. UK remotes run on 434MHz, but Japanese imports operate on 314MHz!
​We decoded the sync data from the found key, matched the exact 314MHz remote frequency, programmed it as a keyless setup, and got everything reassembled flawlessly. 🛠️⚡

This one didn't go to plan.

Problem 1 - I was told it was a key that had to be put in the dash to start the vehicle. It wasn't and for the full keyless ones, which this one was it needed a second computer to be taken out called a KVM. I had spent hours there already because the passenger door wouldn't open and the CEM was a bit stuck. Although the key started the car. It would not open or lock the doors.

Problem 2 - I went back to the vehicle to read the KVM and add the proximity key I had in the van. However. I found out that because this ignition electronically holds the key in place the after market key would not programme. gutted to say the least.

Visit 3 - I ordered and received an OEM key which programmed in and worked full keyless entry and keyless start. So it was a success in the end.

I will not leave your key not working correctly! I will always get the job done!

Not a job you see me on every day! 🐆🛠️
​JLR vehicles don't cross my path too often, but this 2019 Jaguar F-Pace. All Keys Lost emergency was a brilliant challenge.
​The job threw a few curveballs from the start. First, the Xhorse Key Tool Plus couldn't read anything via OBD. This vehicle has an encrypted KVM module, and the vehicle's alarm was ringing out loud. To top it off, the customer was in the middle of a massive office move—meaning the seats and the boot were absolutely packed with equipment I had to climb over just to reach the module! 📦🏃‍♂️
​Because of the heavy conformal coating on these circuit boards, getting a clean connection to decrypt it on the bench took some serious patience. But I hooked up the ACDP, pulled the data, generated a brand-new remote key, and packed everything back together perfectly.
​Back on the road with no drama! 💥🚘

​I was programming a new key for this 2015 Citroen Berlingo using the Advanced Diagnostics SmartPro. The system threw up a warning saying the security pin readout procedure could take up to TWO HOURS.
