Tracing

We offer a tracing service for a fixed fee. As well as reconnecting old friends/estranged family members, we are also able to trace debtors, who may think they can move away and not pay what they owe you.

Surveillance Services

Often the first thing that comes to mind when people think about private detectives is surveillance.

It isn't always the go-to solution but it is very important.
There are times when the best evidence is to see something first hand.

Our surveillance operatives are trained to ensure we don't miss key movements, whilst ensuring the subject doesn't see us.

What Can A PI Legally Do?

Types of things we are often asked to do and will not do is hack phone/emails/messenger accounts, access bank accounts etc. Some people aren't aware that these things are illegal, and others are just hopeful we will do it anyway. TV shows often show detectives break the law to get a result but it doesn't work like that in reality.

We even had one client enquire to see if we could investigate someone's past and identify the name of their first pet! They had no explanation as to why they required the info so we can only assume it was to pass security questions and access someone's account. Needless to say we turned down that request!

If a client does ask us to do something illegal we will take the time to hear out their case and where possible, suggest a legal route to get the result.

Have you ever been attacked by a wild animal?

Throwback to this little gem. One of the more rare risks of Process serving. (Unless you live in obviously)

I've received plenty of verbal abuse over the years, the occasional physical threat, been threatened with weapons but only this once was I at risk from aggressive seagulls.

We've all experienced greedy gulls at the seaside but how aggressive are these particular ones to warrant this sign?

Status Reports

Our status reports can be used for various reasons. E.G.:-
🕵️‍♀️Check if a debtor has means to pay
🕵️‍♀️Check a company is what it seems to be before allowing them credit
🕵️‍♀️Check a person is who they say they are before going into business with them
🕵️‍♀️Check the status of a company director before accepting a personal guarantee

We were disappointed by this headline from the Law Society Gazette. It implies the solicitor was fined for hiring a PI which is not the case.

The solicitor was deemed to have taken advantage of a litigant in person and sought her address despite her not having to give it. The solicitor then shared that data with his client, which he should not have done.

It is completely legal to hire a PI to trace a person and any reputable agency will explain to you what the process is based on the reason for the trace.

We are aware that WAPI - World Association of Professional Investigators have asked the Law Society to clarify this matter.

SDT finds sole practitioner repeatedly asked litigant in person for her contact details and passed them to his client.

Process Serving

Many people may only recall seeing process servers on US TV shows. Often delivering documents with the line "You've been served".

But process servers are also a very important part of the UK legal system, in particular when one party in a dispute won't engage with the legal process.
