We are a team of three, two full time and one part time people, which includes the BID Manager, Operations Officer/City Centre Warden, and Digital Marketing Officer. BID is managed by the North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, a not-for-profit business support organisation, the biggest in Lancashire, which was founded in 1916. BID’s work is overseen by the BID Committee, made up of repres

entatives of city centre businesses, who oversee and monitor our campaigns and business plan. We are funded by the businesses it represents in order to improve the overall trading conditions. We do this via work under three core values which are: Safety & Security, Visual, Vibrancy. We also have sub-committees which city centre businesses can join to help guide our work and share our focus for making the city centre a great place to invest, work and live. We offer discounted (and sometimes free…) services to BID members and arrange commercial events in order that they can meet prospective customers. We meet with key stakeholders regularly and campaign on behalf of our members to ensure that their collective voice is heard. Whilst both the City Council and County Council contribute to BID and are members of the project, BID remains independent of any public body. We are funded by business, for business. NOMINATIONS OPEN FOR HIGH STREET HEROES AWARDS 2026 🏆 CELEBRATING CITY CENTRE EXCELLENCE! 🏆

City centre businesses are being invited to step into the spotlight as nominations open for the High Street Heroes Awards 2026, delivered in partnership by Preston BID and Visit Preston.

From 5th - 30th June 2026, city centre businesses and employees are encouraged to recognise the people and places that make Preston’s city centre thrive.

The awards are staged to celebrate the outstanding contribution of local businesses and their teams, shining a light on exceptional customer service, innovation, community spirit, and dedication across all areas of city centre business life.

This year, nominations are open to: City centre businesses nominating themselves, city centre business team members recognising colleagues (their business or others), businesses nominating other city centre businesses.

Following the nominations period, public voting will open, allowing people from Preston and beyond, to throw their weight behind their favourite people and places. Ultimately, they will determine the winners!

Winners will be announced at a special awards event later in the year, bringing together businesses, partners, and supporters to celebrate the very best of Preston.

Do you want to back your favourite venue, help your high street and support local jobs? Then sign the petition to lower the rate of VAT for hospitality to 10%.

Our pubs, restaurants, cafes, hotels, nightclubs and many more, are at the heart of our communities.

They bring people together and bring life to our cities, towns and villages, but they're under huge pressure from rising costs.

In the UK, you pay one of the highest VAT rates in Europe. 20% extra in VAT for your pint, meal out or stay away. In France, Spain and Italy, it's 10%. In Germany? 7%.

Our message to Government is simple. Let's stand together to say VAT at 10% is fair for hospitality.

City centre businesses... win your share of £5,000!

'Bloom Your Business's is an exciting competition set to showcase your premises and attract custom, by decorating your premises windows and/or shop frontage, to tie in with Preston’s 'Canopy of Colour'.

You have to have confirmed your entry by June 1st, so there's only a few days left.

We are looking for eye catching displays that celebrate vibrant spring and summer themes - think floral, foliage and spring/summer elements.

There's a top prize of £3,000 for the winning business, £1,500 for second place, and £500 for third place.

The winner and runners up will be determined by the public and announced at this year's High Street Heroes Awards, in the autumn.
