Oh I’m giggling!

Just had a lovely lady come for the first time to drop her machine, she loved the shed! Everyone does…

I said welcome to my shed and she laughed and said, “the man at the window said I would find you in the shed.” 🤣

After she left, I thought about how that might have been interpreted by the ‘uninitiated’.

So just to reassure everyone… I am in the shed voluntarily, I am not held against my will in the garden by ‘the man at the window’! 😂

The lovely man at the window is my amazing husband Chris, who also has amazing skills and is just expanding into property services! 😇 A former electrician and kitchen fitter, with a breadth of skills from plastering to design and installation of quality internal storage solutions, even floor laying. So if you happen to need any jobs done at home… the man at the window is available on 07786 734966… 🤩 And he will not relegate you to the shed whilst he works! 🤣

I get quite disappointed when a machine arrives ‘clean’, lots of lint is a sign of one of two things… you haven’t had your machine regularly serviced, or, you use it a lot! 😊

The machine in this video was donated recently and has been ‘snapped up’ by a very astute lady, who recognised the value of these old machines! 🥳

In the video I say it’s about 30 years old… forgetting it’s 2026 and not 1999! 😂

This model was made in the 60’s/early 70’s.

That makes it likely older than me! 🤩 Yet, it shows so little signs of use, it saddened me. 😢

Please, please, use your machines! 😍

Visited a friend in hospital

Sat in a chair in another friend’s paddock so Rosey could get some Ya Yas out as I’m struggling to walk

Knitted an angel

Did a painting lesson that’s been in my inbox for weeks

They hunt in packs! 😱

It is true, I see patterns, it’s the Autistic brain! 🤭

Last month in the space of a week, 3 sewing machines with PCB component failures. 😳

This month so far:

Two machines with damaged motors… in 2 years I’ve only had 1 other machine with motor problems. 🤷‍♀️

Two Janome 525s machines… I’ve not had this model before! 🤔

Two JD 1818s I’ve only had two others of these in over 300 machines.🫣

One of my counterparts and myself, both accepted donated machines for TWAM… both of them Frister Rossman, shuttle machines, with the same decals. ☺️

The moral of this story… it isn’t only FB that listens to your conversations! Our sewing machines have some intangible, psychic link! They’re talking to each other! 🤣

Be afraid! Very afraid! The sewing machines are planning a coup! 😂😂😂

It’s been a busy week, I had more donated machines, so with the ones that have gone to new homes. I have 5 remaining, including a Jones, New Home, Brother, Toyota and a singer, although the last 2 are modern ones. And a beautiful old hand crank for Steven to refurbish for TWAM.

One of the Jones machines is going to a gentleman who needed something robust!

He wasn’t overly keen on the floral case… so me being me, and as he’s a good friend. I wrapped his case! Of course I did! 🤣

I don’t think it will be a career choice… and I’ll definitely not be wrapping anyone’s ’hot hatch’ any time soon! 🫣

But he loves it and now has a machine that works and doesn’t look like the case belongs on his granny’s coffee table! 🤭

I’m not doing any servicing today. 😱 I’m a bit poorly, not contagious, just tired, aching and headachy! So I’ve decided to have a day off! Outrageous behaviour!

I have lots of projects that I’ve been meaning to do, but not sure I’ll manage those either!

Some things I do need to remind you all of…

1. If you’re sewing something heavy, support the weight of your fabric, relying on the feed dogs to pull it through, without support, can lead to significant needle strikes.

2. The screwdrivers included in your machine accessory pack? They’re for removing the needle plate, if you don’t do that regularly, lint compresses under the needle plate and the feed dogs can’t grip your fabric.

3. Make sure you are winding thread onto the bobbin and not the winding mechanism.

4. If you have a spare spool on one of your spool holders, net it or make sure the tail is not trailing anywhere near your sewing machine.

5. USE your machine regularly, they don’t like being left to gather dust… it isn’t good for them, lubricants pool or dry out completely, even a machine that has hardly been used, needs regular servicing. If you haven’t used your machine for a while, get it serviced, always turn the hand wheel towards you a few rotations before using it. To check everything is moving freely.

That’s my nagging for this week… my husband says I’m an expert… not sure if he was referring to the servicing, or the nagging! 🤔
