Busy week, busy month! 😱

The earliest availability I have now is from the 7th September!

The oldest machine I serviced this week was made in the 1930’s and the youngest, is a mere baby at 3 years old! 😊

The one on the bench currently is the first Singer 327k that has been bought to me for a service and is quite poignant… as it’s the same model I learned to sew on as a small child. 🥰

I have two of these myself!

Due to the lack of storage and the number of machines I have booked in. I won’t be able to take in machines prior to the date they are booked and if you are planning to leave it when you go away, please be mindful that it may not be possible to leave the machine here for 2-3 weeks. ☺️

Most services are completed within 72 hours of drop off, and that is only possible through strict scheduling. 👍

Yesterday morning I taught a 13 year old how to use her Singer 185k 😊

Today she sent me a photo of the t-shirt she adapted and personalised with the sewing machine and some hand stitched embroidery! 🥰

Yesterday afternoon, I helped my friends 4 year old shorten the straps on her new fancy dress outfit… she pressed the reverse button and hand turned the wheel to do some sewing! ❤️❤️❤️

Never underestimate the sense of accomplishment and confidence a child can experience from ‘making & fixing’.

I would like to encourage the 4 year old… and it’s her birthday next month… if anyone has a small hand crank machine, languishing in a shed or loft, that I could service for her, please let me know! 🙏

All the hand cranks I get donated go to Tools With A Mission, so I would really love to be able to gift one to this young lady, to start her sewing journey ☺️. It’s a much safer option for a small child to learn on, than an electric machine that has a foot pedal… much more control. 💪

If you have one converted to electric, I can convert it back… 😊

I’ve been a bit quiet as I’m so busy currently. 😊

I didn’t expect to be, last August was relatively quiet, I mistakenly thought this year would be the same, with everyone on Holibobs. 🤔

I’ve had the usual, complete mix of modern and vintage machines. I always advocate keeping an old machine in use rather than buy a new one, just because you can! 🙂

Modern machines have much more functionality, but you sacrifice longevity and I’m more and more aware of the environmental impact of producing all that plastic. 🫣

Using an older machine, teaches you so much about how the machine works and a 55 year old machine like this one, may only do a simple straight stitch, but the teenager I’ve serviced this for, will likely be able to teach her children and grandchildren, on this same machine! 🥰

If you find an old machine like this, then consider either getting it serviced or passing it to another family member. Look how beautiful she is! And she stitches beautifully! 🥳 I even fed the original leather belt. A little leather dressing, not too much! Just enough to soften it slightly, after years in the loft!

I took the weekend off! 😱

Outrageous behaviour, I know, but I so rarely get to craft myself these days. 🫣

I admit, most of the time was spent procraftinating. 😂

I began my crafting journey as a child, tapestry, latch hook, crochet, cross stitch, drawing, colouring, card making, quilting and a tiny amount of other sewing all followed!

In fact, my workshop was built originally, for my card making classes. I just so rarely do any papercrafts now. 😞

Today I did a little painting, liked just one tiny bit, so made it into a card. Stitched a bit, sifted through my patterned papers, pulled out the trimmer and big shot, punched out the bit of painting I liked, rummaged through my dies and pulled off a length of ribbon. 🤔

I’m a bit rusty, but it was very mindful! 🥰

Phew… it’s still hotter than a hot thing! 🤦‍♀️

I’m not getting enough sleep and every time I sit down, I start to doze off! 🫣

Today I popped over to Thame to see Maria Wilder Fabrics, damnit! I walked out with fabric, inspiration and enthusiasm - tempered almost immediately by the heat! 😂

I am going to make a skirt tho’, promise! 🤞

All sorts in this week, vintage, modern, and this one that’s a betweeny. Manufactured in 1985, I’m always fascinated by the moulded bodies on these!

Have a fabulous weekend! I’m genuinely exhausted and looking forward to chilling before servicing the last two machines outstanding and starting next weeks.

Tonight… I’m turning curtains into quilt covers! 🫣
