What a week. I’m fully booked until 6th July and taking a few days next week to go away in the motorhome. 🥰

The Ukraine to Chilterns quilt hanging is finished and Ferret, our amazing long armer, has really done an amazing job! 😇

I have sore fingers from 10 metres of hand stitching! 😱

I offered to make some personalised poodle gifts for Poodle Network Uk, fundraising auction after they rescued 34 dogs from a property a few weeks ago. So I have some embroidery to knuckle down and do! 🫣

I was also asked to make a gift for a snoopy lover! Being me… I had to do a ‘proper’ job! So made a matching zipper tag/keyring! 🫶

Following on from my post yesterday about hand crank machines for TWAM. 😊

I often see sales posts for vintage Singer machines… asking a lot of money. The sad fact is that despite being a genuine antique, in this case, 122 years old, the Singer machines were made in their tens and hundreds of thousands. 🥰 And have little, or no, residual value.

If you have one and want to keep it as a family heirloom and use it to teach children to sew, it’s a great idea as they are probably safer than an electric machine. 😍

Many, however end up in landfill 😭

This machine has been donated to TWAM and Steven will restore it and package it up! To stop recipients selling them for scrap metal, TWAM require recipients to ‘buy’ the machines and attend training on how to use and maintain them.

This 122 year old machine, will outlast us all! AND provide a family with a means of supporting themselves for generations! 🥳

Now THAT is a legacy your grandmother/mother/aunt would be proud of! 🥰

I can service these machines if you want to keep them in the family… as well as more modern machines. 👍

I’m now taking bookings from the 24th June as I’m fully booked currently.

If you have a machine to donate. I’m happy to take them immediately… you don’t just make a difference, donating a machine, you ARE the difference! 😘

Just cracked open this Janome for a service and thought you might like to see what happens when the grease in the machine deteriorates with age. 😱

Just imagine how this impacts the smooth running of the machine when all the other grease in the machine is as bad, or worse. 🧐

Irrespective of how little you may use your machine, a regular service is important. In some cases, you may only need to service it every 3 years… some of my customers bring their machines in twice a year. Purely because the machines are in constant use and even if the grease is still ‘good’ it will become contaminated with lint, having a similar impact on the machine as old desiccated grease. 🥴

Some machines don’t require grease at all… but only an engineer can determine whether or not it is appropriate to the machine. 😇

I must apologise! I’ve just realised I’ve not posted in over a week! 😱

I’ve been so busy the last couple of weeks. Lots of lovely machines in!

I’ve also been on antibiotics - always a joy! If anyone knows how I can stop feeling like I’ve been hit by a mallet. Please share! 🤣

The studio is full and once more. The lounge has become extra storage! 🫣

The rain after all that lovely sunshine isn’t fun and I’ve had 2 extra quadrupeds in residence. 🤪

What has everyone been up to? If you would like to book in, I only have 1 or 2 spaces next week. So worth getting that service booked, before you have any problems. 🥰

Oh blimey! Getting overly familiar with an overlocker! 🫣

The customer has been advised I only service sewing machines. But has put her overlocker in my hands for a deep clean! 🤪

It’s at times like this you’re unsure whether having a good reputation is a positive or negative thing! 🤣

You know those days when you’re building some flat pack furniture and hope and pray that you won’t have any screws left over? 🥴

Don’t hold your breath! I’m going in! 😱

At this juncture… if you need your sewing machine repaired or serviced. Please book in as I’m booking 2 weeks ahead and don’t want to leave anyone in a last minute panic trying to find someone with availability! 😎

Pleased to say I’m back working after my surgery! And taking advantage of the Aircon in the workshop… 🥵 As is the dog!

I am fully booked for the next two weeks! I recommend booking in if you need your machine serviced, especially if, like lots of crafters, your Christmas prep starts in July! 🤯

Ok, so most people would look at us in horror mentioning the C word this early! But if you know, you know! 🤣

I made a thing!

I just want to qualify this by saying… it’s a really easy pattern and most of it was sewn on the overlocker! So it doesn’t count as sewing! 😱
