Work experience at Installation Technology

A huge thank you to everyone who’s contributed to our Work Experience (WEX) programme this year and over the past 3.5 years.
This summer was another huge success, with a mix of internal and external placements. To date, over 50% of our employees have been involved in WEX in some capacity, whether directly mentoring students or supporting behind the scenes. Your efforts make a real difference, and we can’t thank you enough.
Our WEX placements typically last a week, with Students joining us through school programmes, job fairs, or personal connections. Most are aged 14 and upwards, and they come to us eager to explore careers in ICT, gain hands-on experience, and build confidence in a professional setting.
Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and many have expressed a strong interest in continuing in the industry.

We successfully completed two work-experience placements between mid-June and July. Ruby and Kyran, our Year-12 students engaged in a range of activities including data comms cabling at one our NHS hospital sites, network activities in our build room and a visit to a 4G/5G data centre.

We also successfully completed an in-house work experience programme for Gabriel, an existing Data Comms Engineer. He spent time with our Network Team learning how to build and test hardware to support our 24/7 field service contracts. He also accompanied our engineers as they attended fault calls at various sites across London. This fantastic opportunity has helped Gabriel develop his data networking knowledge and the skills required to provide a fantastic service experience for our customers.

All participants had a great time, thanks to our wonderful colleagues from different departments making these placements truly come to life. Here's what a couple of the participants had to say:
· Ruby: “It was really interesting to see all the different opportunities I have especially as a woman, typically you don’t see many women doing this type of work so it improved my confidence that I can do something like this seeing the other women that work there.”

We are delighted that our new website is now online! It has been many months in the making and builds on our rebranding launch in September. With the exception of our case studies the images are of our own employees, demonstrating the various activities we carry out every day to bring fixed and wireless networking to the UK and Northern Ireland. Huge thanks to all of our employees who became ‘models’ over the various photoshoots that took place across London. Also a big thank-you to our partners and customers for their support with case studies, quotes and the use of their logos. We hope you enjoy browsing through it!

We are committed to working to the latest and highest industry standards. Continuous improvement is embedded into Installation Technology and continues to help us drive service offerings up. Every year we aim to raise the bar.

From management to engineers, our teams are fully compliant. We are subject to an annual FIRAS audit of our office management systems and both on going and random surveillance site inspections where our workmanship is assessed.

We are delighted to share our new company logo with the world!

Our recent re-branding launch and company update at the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) was a huge success.

Our previous logo has been in place for over 40 years and it will be an emotional goodbye for many of our longest serving employees!

Our new logo represents our status as one of the UK's most innovative, reliable and sustainable providers of connectivity and will be phased in, ensuring we take a sustainable view to re-branding.

The event also gave us the opportunity to take our employees through some highlights from the previous year and our current business strategy.

Special thanks to our guest speaker Malcolm Keys, Group Business Development Director at Boldyn Networks, who provided invaluable insight into our business from a customer's perspective.

The afternoon finished with some food and drinks on the roof terrace with amazing views of London in 30 degree sunshine!
